Default 00' Civic B18b1 Turboed??

I have a 2000 Civic ex B18b1
it is Turboed on a DSM Evo Kit.
The guy that I bought it off of told me it was only running on 6 psi.
How many Pounds of Boost can one of these motors handle?
Motor has 47k, Turbo kit has 2k
And how do you change the PSI? Is it the Wastegate?

If you don't know how to do it then I wouldn't mess with anything you should go to get it tuned and have the tuner make the adjustments to get the most out of your setup

6 PSI is irrelevant. Wast that thing ever tuned? If it has a boost controller I would set it to 1 and get that thing tuned correctly otherwise the motor could blow at 6 PSI. Also a turbo kit has an incoming pressure and exit pressure. There is two systems for a turbo'd motor.

What the hell are you talking about? If you're trying to explain something (like the difference in a wastegate and bov regulating pressure), then you're doing a terrible job at it. You're only going to confuse him further

Psi is irrelevant without the size of turbo

Pictures and/or details of the setup would help immensely. Saying a "DSM Evo Kit" doesn't really mean anything. Is it running an Evo 8/9 turbo? Until we know exactly what we're dealing with, its difficult to give accurate advice.

Find out a few things:
1. Is it tuned? If yes, how? Where (dyno or street tune)
2. What fuel injectors is it running? Fuel pump?
3. What turbo? Internal or external wastegate?

Ya this is my first time messing with turbos, I am more of an all motor guy.
The turbo I'll have to let you know what it is tomorrow, I know it was tuned by Slowmotion Motorsports in Sunbury, Ohio.
To tell you the truth to me it looks like an ebay turbo kit, but I'll have to look for sure what it is tomorrow.
I know its a B18b1, it was tunded on Hondata s300, has GSR tranny, Tunned chip.
All of it was done by Slowmo, Besides turbo.

I will also post pics tomorrow, thanks for the help.

BTW the guy/kid didn't know much about how much boost he guessed 6psi.

OT, and that is your opinion. And knowing that a turbo system is composed of two systems is VERY important. I assume you rock a turbo with no BOV right?

I think he means intake pressure and drive pressure. In other terms, BOOST and BACKPRESSURE.

Knowing TERMS is also VERY important. Saying "two systems" is like saying there's 2 elements the engine runs on - air and fire.

I'm going to guess it's a 16g turbo, those are generally from a EVO3. Regardless of exact size, the motor should handle up to 10psi if it's tuned correctly. If it's tuned to 6psi and you turn it to 10psi, BOOM. If you still have the stock MAP sensor on it, anything over 11psi will run lean - the sensor can only add fuel up to ~10psi. This is because it only READS up to 10.2psi of boost, and will only tell the ecu there's ~10psi even if there's 100psi.

The Turbo says its a DSM-Evo III Part # T3
It was tuned by Slowmotion, I think I may give them a call and see if they would have some better paper work on the car then what this dude gave me..

Really and this is supposed to me the way for a mod to talk

"What the hell are you talking about? If you're trying to explain something (like the difference in a wastegate and bov regulating pressure), then you're doing a terrible job at it. You're only going to confuse him further "

What the hell? Really? Seems a bit rude. His rudeness was very opinionated at that. And I argued with him based off that rude comment. My comment was directed to the OP and was telling him to get the car tuned. Mods comment was not necessary.

Also I was marked for trolling? Really? I have 300 posts...lol weak sauce...
