built jdm b16a lots of smoke from valve cover and catch can?
so i just installed my edelbrock victor x intake manifold and the car ran beautiful for roughly 30-45mins all of a sudden a good amount of greyish white smoke started rollling from my catch and the nipple on my valve cover and the motor shut down. will not start now and when the motor is cranked it puffs smoke out those to openings. Pls help......
compression / leakdown is good place to start. oil in coolant? coolant in oil? what happened when symptoms started?
no mixture of fluids has occured i was driving the car @ roughly 50mph must cruising after fresh install of the victor x manifold and it all of a sudden just started smoking real bad then the motor died started extremely hard and upon turning the motor over it puffs out the catch can and breather tube. leakdowm and comp. test will be done tomorrow.
It probably is the manifold BUT the manifold isn't to Blaim. When ever you make a mod that will effect the engines VE a retune is required. In his case the engine most likey come more efficient in the higher rpm range where the fueling and ignition would of been out.... > resulting in this.
The only way the manifold is the cause of that is if you forgot to plug the coolant hose up and all the coolant leaked out and the motor overheated and now have a blown headgasket...did your thermostat go up even slightly or where u not paying it attention? I've seen it happen before... sometimes during simple re-installs little overlooked things cause major issues....
