Default 00 civic y7 to y8 swap questions

Ok so i am kind of a newb to the honda world, never actully built one, always mustang and lsx stuff, anyways i have a y7 that needed a head,so i figured id put aa mini me together since it would cost about the same. I already have the y8 head and v/c.Im searching for some ecu and dizzy infomation.
Do i need to run a obd1 ecu? I have air injection right now but i plan on putting a y8 intake at the very least(prob edelbrock or blox) without it.
My obd2b dizzy works but what ecu's will it be compatable for?

Y7 and Y8s share the same distributor. You don't need an OBD1 ECU (unless you get a tune I would go with a Y8 ECU)

You need a '99 - '00 Y8 ECU (P2P) and a it needs to match the transmission type. If it's a manual you will need to rewire the IACV and in either case you will need to add the vtec and knock sensor wiring. The Y8 vtec solenoid is different than any other one btw.

so what do i do with the cold air injection? Im going with a aftermarket intake or at the very least a y8 one. So i need a obd2b ecu and y8 vtec solenoid.
I seen that writeup in another post, and ive searched and searched, really just having compatibalty questions. what all distribtors are interchangable with what combos?

The post above shows step by step what must be done to go from your original 3wire IACV to a @ wire IACV. This is necessary because all Y7's have a 3 wire. Y8 manual trans vehicles have a 2 wire. This is why you are throwing a IACV Code.

Remove the orange wire from B15 and move the balck with a blue stripe wire from the B6 slot to the B23 position.

you need y8 piping too because vtec exhaust is 4-2-1 vs non vtec 4-1

If you are using the manual P2P ecu you HAVE to use a 2 wire IACV and rewire it according to above. You don't have to use the Y8 exhaust manifold the Y7 will work but performance wise it's not the best.

So I'm guessing this link is not working for you as a guide for some reason?

Thats a pretty good link ^^^^^

Use the Y8 head and Y8 and manifold. The Y8 Manifold is the best of the factory IM that honda made for the SOHC. Use whatever size or make TB you want.

P2P ECU, Man. Trans. = you must run the two wire IACV that bolts to the rear of the Y8 IM. You can not use the 3 wire.

Question? I'm doing a mini me also, I'm staying auto and will retain my 3wire IACV, but am wondering if I'm to use the y7 throttle body since the IAC plug is on there or can I just plug it into the IACV on the back of y8 manifold, the plugs are in 2 different locations but unsure if It matters which one I plug into... thanks

Sorry to thread jack

The 3 wire IACV is on the tb for both the Auto Y8 and Y7 so just use the Y7 throttle body with a Y8 throttle rotor (otherwise it'll be backwards). You can't use the 2 wire IACV on the back of the Y8 manifold as it won't be compatible with the auto P2P ECU.

Do I have to make that changeover or could I use the y8 throttle body as is with sensors and all

You can use the Y8 throttle body yes. You do have to change hte IACV as stated above. You need the IACV that bolts to the back of the manifold, and the plug that connects to it. Change the wires as stated above and your y8 conversion will work without a problem. The Y8 manual throttle body does not have a IACV on it.
