Default 96 ek instrument panel lights

i swapped the stock steering wheel with an aftermarket one and put a new radio in (again) and the first night the instrument panel lights were still on. A few nights later they were just off. I replaced a blown fuse(#30) and when i turn my lights on again the fuse blew! And i disconnected the dimmer switch for the instrument panel and replaced the fuse and it still popped! I have no idea what it could be but i can still see the blinkers check engine light and high beam lights and all those just not the speedometer or the gas gauge any of those. And im out of options i have no clue what to do any more!

Please Help!

If the fuse keeps breaking, that either means there's a serious electrical issue/shortage or you aren't using a strong enough fuse.

i dont have the cover to the interior fuse box but when i looked it up on google it said to use a 7.5 and thats whats been in there before it blew the very first time. and do you think its going to be the wires thats all wrapped up in the plastic tubing? so id have to basically cut it open and follow the wires

Check the Red and Red/Blk wires at the rear of the radio for a short. Do not install a higher than 7.5A fuse.

Actually, only check the Red/Blk wire for any type of damage.

7.5A = 7.5 amperage rated fuse.

Installers do this all the time
did you use the stock radio light power wire for the radio power at all
if you did check what you connected it to

it was one of the speaker wires behind the head unit had come out of the connecter and was touching metal.
