Doing a new project...have some questons on vtec-e
So now that my father found out I am into civics he wants to teach me how to build one. I want to basically make a VX, I have access to a low miles vtec -e and tranny. Now here are my questions:
* I cant find the harness for it, I think I can use the EX harness not sure (would a CDM VX harness be any good to me?). I know it has the EGR box I cant find that either, I live in NY and I'm not sure if I need it for emissions and if I dont would it run fine w/o box?
* Which ECU to use?
*I want an EG shell, but is there any particular shell that may favor the build? DX, CX?
*My father wants to convert my auto DX (currently has a 95 EX engine. I get around 32-34mpg but with 68 miles of hwy one way i need more mpg) into manual but I think that would be just to expensive, rather buy a rolling manual shell/hatch and swap engines, am I correct?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

So you're saying you have an engine/tranny and you need a shell to put it in? And you're also saying that you currently get 32-34 mpg and you "need more"?
You need to find a complete VX shell, simple. Sourcing all of these parts and completing this swap properly will prove to be a royal pain in the ****. It will never run correctly and will have all sorts of wierd issues.
I suggest rebuilding the engine/tranny you have and dropping it into an actual VX chassis when you find one. Take your time, be patient and have fun. Keep your current 34mpg DD and be happy with that fuel economy.

PM replied. The engine I found is a JDM Vx, with the tranny and all engine components, about 25-35k miles on it. its a little over 850 USD, fair price?
