Im 17 and I just purchased a 1995 honda del sol but i dont know much about it or cars in general for that matter. I was hoping somebody could tell me how i can find out if my engine is the JDM model or whether it's a b16a1 etc...

anything you have to say about the honda del sol that can give me a little knowledge or a tad bit more capability would be appreciated beyond belief. Thanks alot.

Honestly I have no idea. I'm clueless at the moment but i've got a very strong desire to learn these things. How can I Find out? ill post a pic of the engine in a minute

In 1995 the del sol vtec came with a b16a3, del sol si came with a d16z6 and the del sol s came with a d15b7.

The b16a3 with say "DOHC VTEC" on the valve cover, the other two are single cam engines.

I'm almost positive you have an SI model.





Open the hood, look to the left of the exhaust manifold. It has a stamping of the engine....for example D16Z6 or B16A3

respect: its a single cam. people have mixed emotions; some love them, some think theyre for p***ies

power: you got i believe around 125 hp i could be wrong...

there will be a stamp that shows what motor it is under the head and next to the transmission

 

d16z6. turbo it and love it.

the difference between usdm and jdm is minimal.

 

there is a lot of misleading terms when it comes to the del sol. as mentioned above there are three trim levels: s, si, vtec. THe confusion is that the si does have a vtec engine but its the sohc vtec.

OP, sounds like you have a 95 del sol si (not vtec trim). with the d16z6 sohc vtec engine. good info from power ranger

 

It's got 145k miles on it, should that deter me from putting a turbo on it? im young and in need of more power!!! it's slow and unsatisfying right now. Suggestions anybody?

swap, turbo, supercharge, aftermarket parts?

 

B series swap. you can get one for relatively cheap and there is an awesome increase in power

 

I love this car but i dont think i have the money for an engine swap. I cant put a turbo on my current engine though so it would come out to like 3500$ to turbo it because i'd need a new engine. TIme to look at new cars maybe :/

 

if you dont have enough to swap it, why get another car?
