As I told you and everyone else did. Do a compression and leakdown test. I'm still gonna guess cracked ringland

Should i replace the pistons and all that or just go with bseries? seem like they can hold more abuse.

Do the compression test and come back and post the numbers here. Also if any of the numbers look low add oil to the cylinder and re test

1. Is it a drain back Catch can?

2. If so are you sure the drain isn't kinked?

3. If not have you drained the catch can?

4. Is this picture taken:
- At Idle
- At high RPM
- With the car cold
- With the car hot

5. Is it constantly/steadily smoking? Or does it get dramatically worse when driving the car? Worse in vacuum or boost?

Catch can drains into back of the block-

Im sure its not kinked, i took the can out drained it, cleaned it. put it back in.

I took the 2 hoses off the valve cover and started it up, and the smoke comes from the ports in the valve cover. its is definately internal problem.

Its smoking worse and worse, low oil pressure, boost takes along time to build up.

I bet you had a boost spike from that manifold and damaged a few pistons.

Finally got pistons pulled..
Im going to replace with all new pistons bearings gaskets.
Probably use stock rods and low compression pistons.

Im just going to run into a problem when it comes back to timing...
Anybody got a good run through of how to set the timing on this d16?

ill take more pictures. they look burnt. one piston looks really clean, the other three are toasty. The rings looks good still though. i think the problem may be within the valves in the head. Taken it to get hot tanked and rebuilt.

So no cracked ringlands? The ringlands aren't the actual rings themselves its the part of the piston in between where the rings sit
