i have 93 civic with a b16 motor, my question is will a leak down test or compression test let me know what problem i am having. my engine smokes when i come to a stop, and on top end when vtec kicks in. i check the oil every day full i check the coolant every day full i have horrible gas milage so i know i am running rich but shouldnt it smoke all the time since i am running rich. by the way the smoke is black. engine light only comes on at top end for tps sensor. i just want to make sure i fix the right thing cause money is super tight

Well in vtec your engines dumping in alot more fuel since mre air is going in so that might be reason why it smokes when in vyec, the stopping thigh im not sure, what ecu are you running
