i just ordered an oem si grill molding for a $100 at my local honda dealer. I recently read that the ex/dx/etc. base (painted part) can not be used as a replacement for an actual SI base. I purchased just the molding intending that the base would swap directly onto the molding. can someone please back this up? otherwise i will try to modify it somehow.

it wont fit 'cause as you can see in the pic the ex grill base (first pic) is moore forward than the si one, dont think it's possible to modify it. On a side note you paid way to much for that base you could've gotten both the front and back base for like $120 from majestic honda

 

i believe you will need the whole em1 bumper...

no he does'nt, the bumpers are exactly the same the grill assembly is whats different

 

why does the majestic honda order form not have the si badge with the grill? also, that is the same site they ordered it from at the dealer, they showed my the same exact diagram as http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...GRILLE+%283%29

 

An EM1 bumper is no different than any other 99-00 civic hatch, coupe or sedan

 

also, is the ex grill hardware reuseable with the SI grill?
