Have you guys seen this video - looks like a DE in Germany. The driver is trying to get some heat into the tires on a slow lap and ends up in the wall, LMAO!!

This is when you get "What if my car is a slushie?" at drivers meetings LOL!

 

People these days have no clue what "2 feet in" means. I think it has to do with most new guys watching topgear and thinking they can "drift" their way out of any situation. Its a top gear generation out there.

not gonna lie, i almost balled my racecar at watkins glen doing that. and i know of someone who did ball their racecar warming tires. if u notice, these guys didn't even have helmets on. so that must have hurt.

One of the ECHC drivers balled up the car during the warm up lap. It's not unusual that it happens I guess....

Good point about the helmets. Wonder if it's some sort of a parade lap instead of a driving school? All the timing gear in the car has me thinking it's a driving school, though.

 

Cuz he was too dumb to realize that braking will also generate heat in the tires.

 

Europe = helmets optional....

 

I suppose the legal liabilities there are different. Maybe when people wreck their cars at tracks in Europe they don't sue the track owner?

He's an idiot. That was some aggressive tire warming. Also, street tires are effective at a very low temperature. He probably didn't need it anyway. He just learned an expensive lesson.

I was wondering about that too. So many videos of car reviews etc. floating around with the reviewer driving without a helmet at the track. Top Gear does that a lot too. I think for TV it makes it more personal when you can see the host's face while driving but for a regular DE it's hard to understand why you would't want to protect the melon, LOL!

 

i'll watch this when i get home.. anybody have the vid of the guy rolling his car warming up his tires on the track?
