NEED HELP...car won't start
I have a: 1993 Honda Civic EX, COUPE, Automatic, D16Z6 STOCK!!!
-The car has been sitting for about 3 months. I started it up and drove it for about 2 days. On the way home from work, I exit off the freeway and slowed down. The car stumbles and the engine cuts out. I try to start it back up but it won't all it does is crank and crank. I towed it home and started to diagnose. First thing I did:NO CELS!!!!!!!!!!!!
1-checked for blown fuses: ECU 15amp fuse and Backup fuse, both were good.
2-checked for spark: good for all 4 wires, theres voltage at blk/yellow wire from the engine harness to the distributor.
3-checked for fuel: pump primes when KOEF, also can smell it from the engine bay.
4-checked to make sure nothing is blocking the intake system: good
5-Open valve cover and timing cover to check belt and timing marks: good set at TDC.=good
6-Did compression test: 150psi all across
7-HELMS: did step to step, testing for voltage on terminal a23/a24 both good, less than 1 volt.
8-Helms says to Test for power going into the inginter on 2 different wires, both pass.
-Borrow a KNOWN good distributor and ECM (p28)..still won't start---firing order is correct at :1,3,4,2,,car cranks and cranks...
9-checked plugs: all fouled out and wet from flooding. Replaced with new NGK plugs, still car just cranks.
-10-----very frustrated..!!!! any help please:
-Compression:150 across
-new plugs, distributor and working P28 from another e.g..
-it has fuel, spark, air, compress but NO START, timing is TDC

----yup:
1. battery ground to chassis: tight, no corrosion
2. passenger bottom ground cable from chassis to tranny/motor: tight, no corrosion
3. top small ground cable from valve cover to chassis: tight, no corrosion
4. engine harness ground to thermostat housing: tight, no corrosion
----I am stuck.....so any other ideas..would helps thanks a lot!!!!

-Although I can hear the pump priming and the main really clicking, I swapped it out with another one from another working EG and still no start, just cranks..I even check for continuity on the main ignition switch wires under the dash, and they are within specs...so if anyone got any more ideas...please let me know..thanks

I also have the same exact problem . Have you figured it out? what i noticed on mines is that after i drive the car and I shut it off or dies and try to crank it over almost immediately it sounds like the starter cranks very slow like a bad battery symptom perse, so im thinking maybe a starter solenoid is taking a ****, just wish i had an extra starter laying around to swap.
Ok no laughing but when I worked at a shop we had a car come in that would not start and we put plugs in it. that should not have fixed the problem but it did, So back to guessing, I say injectors? are you getting a gas smell out the exhaust when your trying to start it? or dist, you might be getting spark but at the right time?
I helped a buddy rebuild a honda engine on his 92 civic. We installed it but it wasn't getting spark. Took us a while to find but there was a little wire that was disconnected and once we connected it, it fired right up. I still have no idea what that wire was for lol. But check all your connections
u mentioned you tried starting fluid, curious to know what happened after using it? did it start and die immediately or did it just crank? if you have spark coming from dizz to all 4wires and starting fluid going directly to throttle, car would start no matter what, only way it wouldnt is if your spark plugs are bad so id start there. if car started with starting fluid and died right away, then it would have to be a fuel problem, even though you could hear ur fuel pump turn on doesnt mean it's reaching passed injectors. check fuel filter, fuel rail and injectors to make sure they are not clogged.
