1997 Accord Ex

I know Honda power windows suck.
All 3 other windows work fine but are very slow. The drivers doesnt, it sounds like its trying to move but something is stuck. So either the window is off the rails or the regulator needs replacement. The window also seems off alignment so there is hope to where the regulator is fine.

My question is to those who have had this issue; how did you fix it? The local pull-a-part has a ton of 94-97 Accords so I can easily get a new regulator, but I need tips on removing the panel and troubleshooting the regulator before replacing it.

If the window moves up to a certain point and then gets stuck in one position, most likely it means some teeth on the regulator are stripped/broken. On my Civic I just took the interior panel off, cut through the plastic, removed the old regulator and put a new one in. It helps to have someone hold the glass for you. I did it years ago so I don't remember details but go to Barnes and Noble and browse through a Chilton's repair book.

 

Im sure itll be self explanatory since ive done the door panels on my Civic countless times but its manual windows haha.


What grease or lube do you guys use on the windows to keep them moving freely?

 

There are no "teeth" on the regulator. It is driven by a motor via steel cables. I suggest that you purchase a repair manual.
