Default KRXTacy!

I've been on HT for years but don't post much. I had a B18 NA CRX, then another CRX with a B18 that I was going to turbo over the winter ready for this years events but then this K20 swap came up...

I'm going to be boosting the car, looking for around 500hp or so :D

After a lot of thought & some soul searching I'm going to use a CRX shell I bought a few years ago.

Got the cage rubbed down & zinc primered

We got the engine in ready for some mocking up

Hasport mounts, Hondata Kpro, MAC boost control solenoid, Karcept hubs, Hybrid Racing shift cables, Precision Billet 6262 0.82AR turbo, Competition stage 5 clutch & flywheel

Turbo with a CRX in it

V band exhaust housing :D

We rubbed the bay down & painted it in satin black for now.

Shift box mounted.

The passenger sill had a couple of rusty spots so we thought we best sort that out & make sure there was nothing hiding.....

A little hard to tell but on the left is the OEM sill rusted to nothing by the right side with a repair piece just welded over the rust on the right! Glad we had a good dig about!

What we had left when we'd finished cutting the rot out!

New sill going back in, it's a Civic sill. the rear of the sill, the other sill & both arches are perfect strange that this bit was bodged so badly! I guess it must have been a different place that did the work!

We needed to make some more room for the down pipe/s for the turbo so this mount needed to be trimmed down a bit..

We also needed to notch the cross member for the down pipe & the gearbox, here's the cross member welded back up with 4mm plate & added box section to make sure it's got the strength we removed with cutting chunks out of it!

Drivers side mount being welded in.

After welding.

A bit of stitch welding on the passenger side mount.

We got a plate welded in to the bulk head to mount a EG hydro clutch pedal. Hole saw didn't touch the 4mm plate so I had to chain drill it... I'll clean that up in the week once I have a decent hole saw!

Huge huge thanks to My mate Klincke & his Bro who did all the welding Gav [thumbs]

Then started swapping the sun roof roof out for a tin top roof I had.

Done loads of rubbing down prep ready to paint the interior then we can start putting the wiring in the car.

I've also sent my turbo & wastegate over to a place in the UK called TDI North to have a semi custom turbo manifold made which I may have for next weekend all being well

Hope that all makes sense
Bill

I can't wait to get this thing built & running!

Looking for 500hp+ with the bare minimum to make the car road legal (in the UK).

Thanks for the kind words

Today we got the tin top roof welded on & seem sealed so we can get on finishing the prep on the interior & painted ready for next weekend which should be an exciting one bolting on some of the shiny parts

Great build and very nice cage work btw. Are you going to fab up your own foot controls or use oem for that hydro set up
That cross member looks plenty strong

Cage was done by a place called Custom Cages in the UK they do good work

We have already cut the cable clutch part of the pedals off the CRX pedals & trimmed an EG clutch pedal to fit I'll grab some pictures once we start to bolt the stuff into the car after the interior is painted :D

Cross member has 3mm wall 25mm box section either side of the two cut outs with 4mm plate spanning the gap! We welded the Hasport rear mount onto the rear cross member too so it should be pretty strong!

Last night we finished rubbing the car down & tonight got the interior in primer, it always surprises me how good a car looks once it's all a uniform colour!

Radiator mounts welded into the T bar

Intercooler mounted on the bottom need the actual bumper we are using on the car to be delivered before we finish the top mount brackets.

A Mugen esq bumper lent against the car with the wings placed on to see how much needs cutting. The bumper I'm using has a much larger hole in the middle

So as I'm using such a big wastegate & the manifold has never been used on a CRX before we found that there was a lack of room in the bay so we made made the bay bigger

Needs plating up which we'll get done this weekend as we had Klincke's ITR to fix & race last weekend

I got a Hybrid Racing alternator relocation kit to make sure the pulleys clear the bonnet, as you can see the tensioner doesn't fit so we need to reshape the headlight frame.

Next part next problem, the alternator which is now tucked down low out of the way is very close to the traction bar so I think we may need to do some modifying again......

Will do just trying to build the best from what I can just about afford, I can't afford to pay to get it painted so we are going to use paint rollers with army olive drab paint for now :D

Motors not built yet but will be asap

Looking for 500hp or so for 1/4's for now with 350-400 for road use.

Supposedly once the motors forged & I beef up the tranny the turbo's good for 650-700hp!

With the weight of the car even with the stock engine I should be looking near 600hp per ton!
