B18c GSR - want to install aftermarket parts before putting in the car
Well as the title says, i've got a b18c gsr sitting here. And i'd like to put all the aftermarket parts on it before I throw it in the car. But like, I been reading up on people talking about, ARP bolts & head studs. Would it be smart to get some of those? Or are these just neccesary when you are swapping cam?
It'll be an 300whp setup
What else should I think of to improve overall performance, and increase reliability?
Perhaps headwork, or changing gaskets, etc?
What about Throttle Body btw
thanks in advance

Would anyone be possible to name the "Headwork" options that can be done to improve flow & reliability?
I think Porting & Sleeving is an part of that? What else?
I'd love to read more up on these things
Edit: Are there any FAQS that would explain it though?

300hp setup and you don't have a plan of building up the internals? You might want to research some more before you go buying parts.
I heard plenty of times that a b18c gsr will hold up just great at 300whp
But ofcourse, I'll consider doing such work to it. If I get tempted to higher the whp =P

I'd like to see a sleeved head.

Yeah turbo
@Grumble, I'll look into that
Thanks
The problem is that i dont know all the things that can be done regarding headwork or however its called
On my list;
Porting, Sleeving.
i'll see what else can be done, etc

And you don't need port work on that head to make that power. Just get a quality turbo kit, fuel system, EMS, head studs, and a good tune. Make sure you get it tuned
The only part that could be installed before you put the engine in are the head studs; everything else should be installed after the motor is in..
If you have done any kind of engine swapping in the past you should know what can and cannot be attached when putting the motor in.

@Dc4LsTeg, Ok thanks. I'll make sure i'l lget those arp head studs
And i'll be getting a Go-Autoworks, street kit. With a gt3255b turbo
@Jdm-Sol 89, Alrighty. And I've never swapped an engine =P
Actually, I meant more like performance wise. Perhaps like Retainers, or w/e that should be done for 300whp on an GSR.

Turbo? 300whp on a stock block, and stock top end is common. You don't really need to do much else besides ARP head bolts and make sure the engine is in good running condition.
EMS & tune are 50% of the build.
Upgrade your clutch.
Buy the GA kit and take care of engine management and clutch.

You don't need to do anything to your head to get 300hp. You can port match the intake manifold and exhaust manifold. You are more than likely going to reduce the flow of the gsr head if you try to do anything as fas as porting. I am going for 500 hp and leaving the head completely stock. Apr studs would be about the only thing you need to hit 300 IMO.
Typical boosted B18c gsr stock motor build:
-upgraded clutch
-arp headstuds
-choose a power goal, driving conditions, purpose of the build
-based on those decisions you can choose your turbo/manifold/injectors
-upgraded fuel pump (walbro 255lph pump is pretty standard these days)
-some type of wideband a/f gauge+boost gauge
-tuning capability (hondata s300, neptune, etc...)
-choose a tuner and make an appointment.
Most people choose to swap out the stock intake manifold for an itr rep of some sort (blox, skunk2, etc...)
But honestly if you're thinking of "sleeving the head" I think you should hold off and better educate yourself first.

And about the "Sleeving the head", I wasnt planning to sleeve an head, I just wanted to get to know more about these kinds of things.
But i'll search for a FAQ later on

@Speedooo, haha thanks
Guys, would someone be polite enough to hlep me out without telling me to go read up on these things? =P
I am trying to figure out how the engine works, but then in english, due to Dutch civic forums being quite dead.. I've got no knowledge regarding engines. So mind if i'd ask a couple of questions??
Before I ask my questions, would someone be able to tell me what components these 2 "....." things have?
Do these 2, like form a whole head?
Camshaft
Valvetrain
I came across many people talking about retainers, springs, camshafts, valvetrains.. But I tend to get confused due to all these different engine words in english
Thanks in advance!

Get a Dutch Civic manual.
The questions you're asking are basic car knowledge. This isn't the place to teach you auto-shop. It definitely isn't the place to ask about modding cars if you cannot understand what is being told to you or what you have read.

I havent said I dont understand it at all, I just dont understand certain things. Why would it help, to read up on a DUTCH manual. and then ask these questions on a english forum?
I just need a rough idea about what these things are about in english, and then im good..
I want to see which parts I COULD buy if i've got money left over. to increase overal fun, and performance ofcourse
ffs edited, many spell fails ^.-
