Default 05 RSX or 06 Si?

New here with a simple question that's hard to answer. 05 Base RSX (Auto) or 06 Si? I can get a great deal on either. My issue is the RSX looks so much better inside and out in my honest opinion, but it's much slower. I tried my hardest to find a decent RSX-S with no luck. Which would you guys choose?

It's a no brainer. The SI.. Base RSX isn't performance oriented at all. It does handle well though. Try harder for an 05 RSX-S. Just don't get the base.

If you get the base cheap enough slap a K24 in it and call it a day... RSX

I was in your boat 3 months ago. Couldn't find a decent RSX without 100k plus miles that wasn't either beat to hell and back or Honda taxed like crazy. I went with an 06 SI and haven't regretted it once.

I hate to admit it, but I think the exterior(05+) and interior of the RSX is way better looking. Just gonna wait for a sweet deal on a type-s. The Si is probably more reliable but not a fan of the interior.

The interior may be a little cooler on the RSX, and it has a useful hatchback..... but the 06 Si's 197hp engine and LSD equipped, 6-speed transmission make the entire automatic, low revving 155hp RSX taste like a dookie sandwich.

0-60 in 8 seconds?
or 0-60 in 6 seconds?

I mean, if you wanna go slow, go for the slow one.

Nice, I live/work in Mason by King's Island. I'm on CSS but usually only lurking the event & classified threads, I don't post on there much.

Not sure how you make up these numbers, lol They are bogus

The stock non S rsx runs 0-60 in 7.2 seconds, which is only a touch behind an Si rated at 6.8. Hell, just adding a race header to the rsx would even that up.

The rsx is a nicer car imo

The non S RSX may break the 7.5 second 0-60 mark, if it were being driven by The Stig, and if it had a manual transmission. He said automatic.

From the Wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Civic_Si
"It is also the quickest Civic Si off the line, with a factory 0–60 time of 6.7 seconds according to Honda, but with some tests posting times as quick as 6.3 seconds."

So yeah I exaggerated on both sides, but not by alot. Fact of the matter is that a Base RSX feels slow and an 06 Civic Si feels much faster.

Don't get a base model rsx, go for a type s. Then when it when it comes to chosing between the type s or si, which car do you like better. Which car is going to make you stare at it all day long, think up different builds that you could do, and make you never regret the purchase. Don't buy a car that you don't love.

I actually prefer the 8th gen Si's interiors over the RSX interior. I hate the look of the center console for RSX, it makes the car look a lot cheaper than what it is.

There's also a huge performace/price gap between a base model RSX and a SI..If you could afford the Si, I would definitely pick the Si over the base model RSX. But if it was a 05-06 Type S, then I would go for that over the Si.

In summary, Type S -> Si -> RSX

Just wanted to update. I'm in Sac, CA. and after searching as much as I could, the only RSX-S's are either ragged out or salvaged or 02 models. With my credit(650ish) and not the greatest income, a nice RSX-S is simply out of reach. Could only get approved for 8500 from the bank and I have 4000 in my account. If anyone finds a decent RSX-S near sac or wants to even help me search.. PM me or reply here asap! If not, I'm going to settle for a base automatic. It's pristine.. but won't be much fun.

Also, all the Sis I could find (06+) were utter crap or well over 15k. So that's a no go.

What do you guys think of a decent Accord Coupe? 240HP, 6 Speed? Are they rated well in consumer reports? Worth it if I cant find an S or Si? (Need a reply to this asap if you can shed some light on it!)

Thanks everyone!

This is still the best option here! I have no idea why people bash the non S models...you can pick one up cheap, take the money you save and swap a K24 in.....

I went through the exact same thing recently. Thats why I ended up with an EP3. I just could not find a type-s that I would've been satisfied with or I couldn't afford.

But the Accord coupe is a little big for my taste, and I think the styling is kind of bland, but with the 6-speed plus that torquey V6, its a ton of fun to drive and more comfortable on long drives.

A big downside to me about the Accord, is that it does not have that useful hatchback that the RSX and EP3 have. That was a big selling point for me.

Can't compare apple to orange
unless you are talking about the RSX-S

but in my opinion, type S > si > RSX base

I'm in the same dilemma, I'm deciding upon either an 06' Type-S or an 07' Si Sedan. What was it that you didn't like about the Si? My primary concern is daily driveability and response to basic bolt-ons as I would prefer whichever car would be quicker for some weekend test and tune fun. Thank you.

Si, no Doubt. Better looking +they solved the rear suspension issues the RSX/EP3 had. It responds just as well, if not better to mods than the RSX and flashpro is like 795 instead of 995 for kpro...

2006+ Si by far.

Oh and Si gets LSD and better tranny
