coil-over help!!!!!!!!!!!
hey guys i need help i want to know how i can install my coil overs on my ef hatch what tolls i might need and what else should i replace while im doing this job
I assume you have a normal tool set like wrenches and rachets, plyers, allen wrenches, ect. You need a air wrench and some spring compressors .....if not you could hurt yourself seriously. I haven't had a spring fly at my face but I've seen them fly off. The force of it is dangerous so when you take them off the shock (if you do) point it AWAY from you. I would replace the shock since you're gonna be replacing the springs.....if you really wanna get fancy you could replace the LCA bushings, tie rods, ball joints, and UCA bushings.
Take the whole shock, spring, and fork assembly off in one piece. Disconnect the two bolts in the engine bay on top of the shock tower and the bolt going through the LCA that holds the fork on. (it'll also help to disconnect the upper ball joint). I stupidly took off the shock bolt once and that was a pain in the arss to get it out.....the one and only time I'll ever do that again.
If you arent comfortable with doing it or have any self doubt then dont attempt it. Not only does it suck being stranded without a car but it would also suck to be killed by a spring giving you a money shot to the face.
