2002 accord tranny issues
2002 v-6 accord v-tec automatic 140,000 miles
i just got the car, the previous owner had 20's on there about a year, i put stock wheels on and i notice when i put it in drive and hit the gas i hear a small grinding noise and feeling through 1st gear and then it jerks into 2nd gear and is fine after that. any insight? i think the shift solenoid but all insight is appreciated.

Hey man, i have the same year accord as you and similar problem, except no grinding. I had the dreaded three lights come on (CEL, TCS, D4 flashing) My mechanic told me it was my solenoid. Its a common problem with our cars. The main issue with fixing this is that the solenoid being in the engine bay like most cars, ours is IN the tranny case, so in order to actually check it out the trans has to be pulled apart. My ecu was reset and everything seems to be ok, it just seems like I'm power shifting out of 1st... best of luck to you mate.

how did u reset ur ecu? thank you for the reply, much appreciated. i did a solenoid in a infinity the other week and i just had to drop the tranny pan
its alright, any insight is helpful. resetting ecu is plug in obd2 scanner, ignition to II position and pull codes then hit erase on the obd reader

I have a same vehicle, 2002 v6 135k my 2nd gear is shift a little delay and hard engage . now my D4 flashing, no clue? waiting for any advices or sharing from experts .I think I'm going to do a fluid change, do they have drain pan?
Most if not all V6 6th gen Accords have transmission issues if they have more than 100k miles. It would be great if it was just a solenoid, HOWEVER it's probably not. The hard/slow shifts into 2nd are characteristics of the 2nd gear clutch pack dying and/or being toasted. I can find some nice reading for you if anyone likes. Something along the lines of 2nd gear not getting properly lubricated. Design flaw and all, you see
As a side note: a more complete way to "reset" your ECU is to simply disconnect your battery for a minute or two. CEL codes are gone, as well as all of the learned fuel maps your ECU has made.
And with these transmissions, only drain and fill the tranny fluid. DON'T do a flush as it only makes things worse. Lucas Transmission StopSlip can help your shifting woes SOME and help extend the life of the transmission.
We also don't have a legitimate transmission fluid filter in our transmissions, only a metal mesh that I don't believe really helps THAT much, and it's not even replaceable or cleanable. So don't skimp out on your transmission fluid changes.
