Default Does anyone here know or know someone who has......

has a JDM/USDM H22a in a 6th gen sedan?
or anyone that has an H22a in a civic,
or just knows H22a's pretty well.

i have some quesitons,....

1. best "all motor bang" for the dollar?
2. is it true that 93-96 h22 engines are better than the 97+?
3. is it true that the 97+ h22 tranny's are better than the 93-96?
4. is the JDM H23a worth the money?
5. are the motors that much more difficult to build than a B-series?
6. with the car being a sedan would i be better off getting an JDM H22 over a JDM GSR? as H22's here in Toronto go for less than the GSR's.has a JDM/USDM H22a in a 6th gen sedan?

I'm pretty much striving towards the H22 but i need to make these inquiries before i make a decision, as i don't know that much on the H22's........

any info would be help?
please and thanks in advance......

my biggest concern is that with going with a 4th gen (92-96) is that its an older motor, and i'm afraid that its gonna start to burn oil alot quicker than i think......

1. H22 is the best motor, it just is, ask anyone in the hybrid section.
2 93-95 are the best motors becaus eof OBDI, 96 is second as it's the A1 motor with OBDIi, then the 97 H22A4 becuase of OBDII
3. THat is not true the 4th gen tranny M2F4 or the M2B4 (LSD) is a much better tranny than the 5th gen. It has shorter gears and accelerates faster, that is why 4th gens pull generally better 1/4 mile times, while the 5th gen is more of a top speed car
4. JDM H23a? why the hell would you want that? A JDM H22A is worth the money, and it's not that expensive.
5. Build? Internally? To an extent yes. You cannot run forged pistons without sleeving the block, which you can do no problem in a B-series. Other than that build the engines are mostly similar
6. Yes you would be way better off, you will love the H22 torque and bang for the buck it's great, and the JDM H22a is a very powerful engine compared to the USDM H22's
