I've been a casual HPDE'r but now I am beginning to venture out farther out from my home track more often. Some of these tracks are out in the middle of nowhere and spare parts will be hard to come by on short notice in order not to ruin your track weekend.

What spare parts do you take to the track?

I'll start the list off. I currently have an EF Civic with a GSR Swap and I know I should not travel anywhere without a spare clutch cable. I've also grenaded a distributor cap/rotor once.

The igniter is what you need to worry about if you are not running an MSD or COP.

 

dude jack and jack stands... how u gonna replace all the extra parts u just mentioned with out a jack..
and some kind of tools for alignment.. 2 tape measures and u sheets of metal to put up against the wheels.. to align toe...

EVERYTHING. No seriously. Everything BUT a spare chassis and body parts of a car. Except I used to bring spare fenders and a front bumper. Now, Ive scaled back and leave the fenders at home-but still bring an extra front bumper...especially for the socal nasa races :p
A spare engine, transmission, clutch, brakes, master cylinder, tires, wheels, ecu, tie rods, cntrl arms (front and rear), knuckles, hubs, RTA's, full array of springs, axles, etc, are just a few spares i bring off the top of my head.
For the national championships or the trip across the country to Mid-Ohio, my 28ft enclosed trailer is packed to the brim-which includes 1 honda 50cc scooter, 2 Honda crf 50's and a Honda Fourtrax-to save the crew from walking everywhere at the track.
The only thing I'm really missing is a press and welder.

fyi jonathan-if u need a welder at nationals, kev brings his. i had to have him re-weld my header when it broke clean in half in the last quali race at ohio.

All good things listed here. I like to make sure I bring extra hardware. Such as 10mm nuts and bolts. More that once I have bolted a buddies front bumper back on, that is if there zipties broke.

 

Beer will get you anything you need at the track.....good luck.....

 

Zip ties, oil, brake fluid, brake pads, miscellaneous hardware, and my AAA membership card. I drive my daily to hpde's which the closest is 6 hours away, and I don't own a trailer or a vehicle to tow it. So I make sure to bring my AAA card. Didn't think to bring spare axles, gonna start doing that.
