Default OT - Alternatives to Integras.

Just thinking off the top of my head...

Seeing as how I got my recent bull $hit speed contest ticket, I'm tring to decide what would bring less attention to me than a bright red Integra. What are you guys opinions... heres a short list in no order.

Acura Integra Type R (Black)
Audi S4
Audi A4 with upgrades.
BMW 330 CI
Lexus IS 300 5 Speed
Acura CL type S 6 Speed.

Obviously I'm looking in the low 30k area, plus or minus a couple thousand dollars. (minus alot for a black ITR, plus alot for the Bimmer)

I'm just frustrated at all the attention that I get from the police in my car. I'm tired of all the stereotyping that comes with driving a modified sport compact.

I'm not sure if a black Integra (Type R or GSR) would be much better than what I already have.

I drive agressive, but not so much so. I'm just trying to be a bit less flashy. A bit more Luxo, than Sporty..

Thanks for hearing me out... I'm just a bit depressed at the moment...

im really diggin' the S4.
ive heard the IS300 very underpowered.
The CL-S is also nice.

but the feel of an R is great.

I'd love to keep what I have. I have lots of blood, sweat, and money invested in my car. I love my car. But it just garners so much attention. I always have cops following me. It's as if I'm guilty before proven innocent.

I dunno. Maybe this is just part of my Freudian process. First I was in denial, now i'm in depression...

I'd love the S4, but I'm afraid it's just a bit too much money. Autotrader has a couple, but they're all in the mid 30's. I think the most I could get for my car is about 17 or 18... My mom has a CL... That might be just a bit too weird...

I just don't know...

WRX I thought about, but it's already out of the question. I just don't like the car. Plus, they're getting just as bad as the IntegrasCivicsEclipsesEtc.

Used M3... that's always a thought. It's alot of money too... I have lots of research to do. I'm not for sure selling my car... but the thought is there, and has also been brought up by a couple other people I know...

Other cars on the list...

Infinity G35 2 Door.
Used M3 (How's the reliability and upkeep of these)
Mini Cooper S.

I like 2 doors, Most likely a Sports Coupe, but could be a Sports Sedan... Fak.. I'm babbling at this point...

If I had to choose one... I would get the 5 speed IS. I really like the car, with the exception of the whole 4 door thing. The CL-S is awesome, but after driving the regular CL quite a bit, I would imagine that the handling leaves something to be desired.

Edit: How about the new 350Z?

s4 w/ sport 2-tone interior. friend got his for 30k (without sport interior). you can probably find a good one for ~32k if you look hard enough.

-used 99/98 M3. can find one close to the brand new ITR price.
-330ci. too much money for it, nice regardless.
-ITR, black one. i never really got stereotyped from anyone, so far, i think the trick is don't keep the car TOO clean
-G35 coupe, it doesnt look too nice in person.
-CL-s, boring design.

for performance, look, i'd dig used M3 anytime. in any case of buying a used car, always check the history, maintanence history etc.

I know exactly what you mean. Not too long ago I came within inches of buying a new Miata for those reasons (well, and I fell in love with the Miata, too). I walked away when I realised I couldn't even get the case for my Les Paul to fit in the trunk of the damn thing.

In spirit, there is no alternative to the Integra. None of the cars you've listed (except the R, which you would have the same problems with) are like it. The Integra is fun, with a lightweight, nimble feel, excellent mechanical feedback, a huge cargo capacity (something I unfortunately need). In addition to that it's inexpensive to own and operate with its superlative reliability, great fuel economy and reasonable insurance rates. I have not been able to find such a balance of these qualities in any other car.

The only thing that comes close is the Celica GT-S, which is less car for more money (and it has nowhere near the aftermarket potential).

The Miata is cheap like the Integra, and even more fun, but with absolutely none of the practicality.

Of the cars you listed I'd gravitate toward the IS300 5MT.

My next car is either an S2000 or drive test pending, an 350Z. But this will leave you in the more sporty less luxo category.
S4, 330 CI or CL Type S are three very good choices. I would lean toward the Type S if luxo is what you are looking for.

if you're a true aggressive driver, the CL-S may not be for you. It's more of a luxury cruiser...for those long highway drives.

I would look into the new Nissans/Infinitis too.
