How do I wire this distributor?
Hey I have a 90' Civic wagon with d15b2 (dpfi) that has a leaking distributor.
I have a distributor from a 90' CRX dx (mpfi-converted) and I want to make it work on the 90' civic wagon.
The two plugs are the same, and the wire colors look the same.
However there are two extra wires (both blue) that come out of the distributor and it looks like someone wired them up aftermarket.
I internally, the distributors look different. How can I make this work? Thanks.

MPFI distributor has an extra sensor (that's the two extra wires, blue/yellow and blue/green). I don't believe that you can use it with a DPFI set up.
this is the distro i have on the civic and the square dpfi plugs on it.

the one from the crx looked like this, with 7 pin round mpfi plugs on it. someone wired the square plugs onto it and the two extra blue wires are just loose.

I tried grounding/powering/connecting the two extra wires and I couldn't make it work.
The car starts and dies instantly, as if there's an electrical cutoff. It has code 8 which is TDC sensor I believe.

Now if you're MPFI converted on your current D15B2 on your wagovan then yes you would need to wire up those two EXTRA wires. So the question now is, are you MPFI converted on that car you are trying to get running?
For the record I cannot say whether a MPFI distributor will work on a DPFI setup with the extra sensor not connected.
EDIT: "crx si-r" explained why it won't work.
Thanks guys, long story short - I can't wire up this dizzy.
MPFI and DPFI are completely different ECUs, I/M, injector resistor box - delete... etc.
I have ordered a new distributor today and it should be here soon.
Problem resolved, thanks HT.

Weird. I was able to start my MPFI CRX using a DPFI distributor with an adapter I made (though it was in limp mode due to the missing cylinder position sensor which uses the two blue wires). Don't see why it wouldn't work the other way.
Just for future reference. The MPFI distributor has a sproket with 16 teeth spread in equal gaps; I believe it is the Crank sensor While the distributor has this sam sprocket with 20 teeth but not all teeth are spread equally. The dpfi distributor will run your car but will be in 'limp' mode and send check engine. The extra sensor on MPFI distributor is NOT the problem it is the sprocket for the Crank sensor.

yeah i bought a new dpfi one as well. 160usd shipped from rockauto, i think it was remanufactured.
yes i can vouch for what tanjuilo said, it's all correct. i took them both apart and compared the internals, they are very different inside.
the car would not run in 'limp' mode, it just fired up and died instantly like a fuel-pump cutoff switch.
anyways thanks for the shouts.
