Default Evo 8 Turbo

Came across an Evo 8 turbo....don't know if I should just get a T30 or take the Evo 8 16g turbo into consideration. Anyone ever mounted one a B series? This turbo would go on my LS or possibly JDM GSR....haven't decided yet. Any input would be appreciated

It's a pretty small turbo, it might make a little power on the LS, but on the GSR you can't really take advantage of it considering the RPM range of the GSR.

its actually a pretty decent turbo for its size they are good for around 400hp really pushing them and full boost is at 3800rpm on the evolution 8 itself. ask me how i know... but if you are going to utilize one i would suggest getting a twin scroll manifold since they are a twin scroll internally gated design.

im not positive if its been done on a b series, there is a thread somewhere of a guy claiming he had done it but when me and others asked for more pics he never posted any. i for one wanted more pics of the turbo itself so i could see if it really was an evolution 8 turbo, since i do own one myself i know what they look like and was gonna call bs on him.

the evo 8 and 9 turbos are amazing turbos. they spool super fast and it is very common for evos to make about 400awhp with them at 30+psi of boost.

the problem is that you would have to make a custom tubular twin scrool manifold for it if u want to use it on your honda.

The only engine I'd consider to use it on is the B16. It is a fun little bugger for the purpose, IF you can fab or have TIGart make a manifold for you to integrate it with. Yes, GS-Rs can use it, but not nearly with the same effectiveness and fun factor as with a B16. After that, no, don't bother.

not to mention if you can get one with low miles these suckers usually last well over 80k miles. i have yet to see an aftermarket turbo last that long. hell my evo is at 108k miles of fun and running at 26+ psi and no more shaft play than from the factory.

My friend made a turbo kit with the evo8 turbo for a customer and it turned out great.. It's on a ls motor and makes 380 on pump fuel without even pushing the turbo... They are a good option if you can build up a manifold for one.

I've owned several EVO III "big" 16g's and put BEP "monster" turbine housings on them, they make great power, but for a DSM's RPM range, which like I said would be ok for an LS, but not a VTEC engine.

It would be easier to get an Evo 3 16g since it isn't twin scroll, and probably cheaper than an evo8 16g.

I have an 18g on my si. It pulls super hard. I am at 5 psi at wot (weather depending) by about 2k rpm. I love it! I make great power. I'm going to go external wastegate though here soon.
