slave cylinder and clutch master cylinder question?
Aside from a car not going into gear what other signs are there that a slave cylinder is bad? And a master cylinder besides it leaking inside the firewall? I am trying to narrow down why my car doesn't want to go into gear honda said its the slave cylinder and master cylinder and then they say it could be more haha and there estimate was 410 what a damn joke. Basically i wasted 35 buck to hear what i already thought with no definate answer. Any one have any idea? Thanks
I had both the slave and master cylinders replaced on my car a year ago, The slave cyl is right on the front of the tranny and would have been very easy to replace, I should have relized that befor I payed the dealer. The clutch mastercyl is on the fire wall and I believe it should be bench bleed before install, not sure though. Either way get the parts from http://www.manhonda.com or http://www.majestichonda.com and save yourself some money.
I didn't bench bleed my clutch master cylinder and replaced both myself, took ~30mins. The way I knew they were bad was there was clutch fluid all over my engine bay and I was having to fill up my clutch reservoir once a week. If you replace one, you should replace the other.
check to see if there's oil underneath you're clutch pedal....of course, your clutch reservoir will be low all the time and when it gets all the way down there your clutch won't bounce back up...i got all my parts for 185 i think..

i am not sure if they are bad or not i know the master cylinder is not leaking my clutch fluid has not dropped in a couple of months. There is dry fluid marks under the clutch pedal but i think thats from the previous owner. Might be a stupid question but how do you bench bleed a master cylinder. I am sure they are easy to change. I am probably just going to try and rebuild the slave cylinder for like 10 bucks for the parts from my work. Transmission stuff sucks no one can give you a definate answer (like dealers) or they won't cause they want to replace all of it. I am praying its not the synchros I've heard once one go bad they all do and i doubt i would try to even attempt that. Thanks for the help. Hopefully tomorrow i will be changing both. Anyone recommend any clutch fluid or will any dot 3 do?
ok well i haven't done anything yet i had to wait for my pay check which is finally here. I noticed tonight when the car is off it goes into gear perfectly then i turn the car on and its a pain in the ***. I am gonna try messing with it tomorrow hopefully something changes.
i just replaced both of mine too... also be careful of that hose that goes between the slave and mater cyl. mine went out when i put in the new cyls.( its located right behind the tranny). the pressure of new parts and old hose... well u know the end of this story the hose is 90 bucks from honda ouch!
