Default h22 into eg. ? on extending the alternator wires

i had a weird question on extending the alternator wire on my 95 ex harness for my h22.
the alternator wire is a shielded cable correct? so is there any different procedure for extending it? or just cut and extend as if it were any other non shielded wire?
just curious

get the wires from the harness to the alt from a prelude harness and splice them into the existing EG harness and your all set

I cut the harnesses open and pull the h22 alternator wires out, and put them into the civic harness so they are all the right length. i like as few splices as possible.
