94' Accord F22B2 non-vtec mods?????
I just picked up 94 accord with the F22B2 and im having trouble deciding what mods i can/want to do. I want to keep it non vtec but would like to swap a dohc head on but idk where to start. Also wondering what ecu i could swap in to make it run a little better past 5k. i no theres really no reason to be past 5 but it really dogs out.

Over 300 views and not a single reply?? ive done a little more research and i think im going to use H22 rods, K20 pistons and an F23 head gasket. Just wondering if theres anything i should look out for any info would be nice. thanks.
First off, what are your goals and what is your budget?
For a K20 H22 rod build you need to machine the block out to 86mm should probably have the combustion chambers also machined out to match the bore. I'm sure having done the research you already know that though. What K20 pistons are you looking at A1, A2 or A3?
If your sticking with the F22B2 head you should also look into doing an F23 intake manifold swap. The main issue with that is the 3 wire IACV, however there is a cheap adapter plate you can put on the F23 IM so that you can use your stock 2 wire IACV. If you want the B2 to make power above 5k you will need an aftermarket cam. What one depends on what your goals are and your budget for upgrading the valve train.

Oh and don't forget to put away money for your engine management system and a proper tune. There is no stock ECU that you can plug and play and be able to run this setup properly. It will need an aftermarket EMS or chipped and tuned ECU. If you run the A1 or A2 pistons the combination will put you well into the 12.7-13:1 compression ratio. It will require you to run premium, maybe even race gas, and a really good tune on a dyno.

Thanks for the reply, Im not trying to break the bank but willing to put some money in the right places. Looking to build a n/a non vtec motor making 200-275hp on pump gas. would like to up CR on the cheap if at all possible. Plan on using the f23 intake and h22/23 Tb with larger injectors. Any recommendations on a cam? Been doing a ton of reading and I'm not really sure what i want to do. need to be pointed in the right direction. thanks again
To be honest with you. If your goals are to hit north of 200 it's going to cost to stay SOHC N/A. There is no real cheap way around that. Lighter and larger everything is key. A head swap wouldn't hurt ether, F23A5 or F22A if you want to keep it SOHC non VTEC.
If you go with the F22 rod and a K20A2 piston that will put you in the 11.5:1 CR on the cheap. For higher compression you would want a cam with a lift of around 0.37* - 0.42". For this you will need aftermarket springs and retainers. A cam with a lift over 0.420 is going to cost ya.

What am i looking at as far as power if i swap an f23 head on with the k20 pistons and cam it? Are the pistons going to hit the top of the head?? If i remember right the f23 head should already be 86mm so i wont have to bore the head right??

If you want SOHC non VTEC F23 you would need the F23A5 head. It would not need any machining, you are correct, it is 86mm.
As far as power, IIRC there are a couple 86mm, K20 piston /F23/F22 hybrid builds that are putting down 180+ to the ground with pistons, intake, header and a delta 272 cam. A larger cam and some port work should put them in around the 200 mark on a fairly low budget.

So just to get everything in order i need:
F23A5 Head
K20A2 Pistons
Cam with .37-.40 lift
Bore the F22 block to 86mm
F23 head gasket
Tuned Ecu
Anything i'm forgetting?

stay sohc wouldn't be ard to go way north of 200 hp a bissi cam ,header,set of high comp pistons ,chip your ecu,set of under drive pulleys you should be about where you want to be and be reliable daily driver.
