I have a 96 civic ex with a b20 vtec and ls trans, like the title says my speedo and odometer will not work but everything eles works fine. Before it went out the speedo would be working and then just drop, then it would start working again. Until it stopped. The odo quit when the speedo did. What would cause this a broken vehical speed sensor?

 

the plug usually corrodes.. I just replaced mine with another plug and waiting on a new VSS.

pull off, try to scrape off the corrosion carefully so you dont mess up the pins.

Check the VSS for corrosion also and clean.

Use some die-electric grease on the pins to protect it from future corrosion.
