Throaty sound from intake
I just finished putting in a new head gasket in my 92 1.5L civic. New water pump, thermostat, and timing belt. It runs great, but I do have a question. Civics are new to me and was wondering how loud the intake is. It is really throaty under acceleration (stock intake, stock everything, lol). I did pull the tube off that goes to the air cleaner housing, gave it some gas and it is defiantly coming from the throttle body. A real throaty sound, kind of like when secondaries would be kicking in, but it has more of a rap to it. I have a friend who has done a bunch of these at a shop help me he set the timing. Is this fairly normal or could the timing be off a bit.
Thanks
Thanks
I was trying to find words to describe the sound. The best way to say it, is, its like a throaty rapping. Doesnt do it at idle only when the rpms are above (guess here) 2000-2500. Idles nice and smooth. Is it possible that it is actually exhaust coming out the intakes (that would be if the timing was off of course). I would think that that would also happen at idle as well though.

That is the Honda fury that your hearing. It is getting more air with the tube not being hooked up to the element box. It happens when you install an aftermarket intake as well.

Honda fury huh, lol. I didn't know a stock honda had any fury, lol. The tube is hooked up to the box.
It doesn't mean you gained power from a tube it just so happens the tubing is creating the noise. I had a AEM cold air intake on a bone stock civic hatchback I bought from Honda in 00 and that intake tubing was louder than any B series I ever had. \
"Are you trying to invent a problem?" lol f'in guy
