Default Possibly getting 99 si with gsr swap

Well anyone on here have any good tips to look into for a 99 civic si with a b18 swap from a 95 gsr? Car has 101k miles and motor has 116. If anyone can give me an idea what to look for when checking it out let me know. I am looking to get this as a daily driver for once I get the blower installed on my 07 si.

Here is the description of it and i can get it for 4500 bucks. I am not sure if its a deal or if the salvage title and swap ruins it. Also the seats aren't original si seats they are just from a regular model civic.

1999 civic clean good running car with no rust,101K,coilover struts but not sure of brand, skunk 2 front control arms , rear comptech control arms/tie bar, short shifter, flawless shifting 5 speed trans, hid headlights, stock radio, some real nice si wheels with tires that are like new ,aftermarket exhaust with cat convertor, rear lip, stock si front lip and stock strut bar which if u know hondas then you know finding a si with them two parts still attached is almost impossible. It has a vary strong running b18 gsr motor with no knocks or ticks. REBUILT TITLE due to prior theft. The bad ,passenger window will not roll down , not sure why and rear stut needs rebuilt

$4500 seems...a little...meh. idk. Theft recovery, GSR engine...what trans? Base model seats. It's too little original EM1 for me. There's clean EM1s floating around in my area for $4500-5k all the time. Not that I would recommend the B16A2 to anyone....but usually, rice burglar swaps aren't all that great. Not to assume that this dude is necessarily a rice burglar....but it's hard to find a nice swap.

Getting one with a clean title is semi important. An EM1 will hold it's value anyway, but it's hard to know if everything was put back in properly.

If the car was swapped correctly, and everything that was stolen was replaced properly, and if it had atleast a GSR trans (I hate the GSR trans...but its better than an LS trans), I would offer the dude like $4k cash....depending on how clean everything else is.

Well he says the car is super clean no rust. I just worry about the is it done right problem and i thought the price was high. Unfortunately everything else around here is expensive that i find. Next best thing lined up is a 99 civic lx with 180k miles but he wants close to 4k for that too. I always have loved the em1 so thats why I kind of wanted to check this car out.

There's a "what's it worth" sticky for just this. $4500 for a salvage titled EM1 with blown struts and no-name parts? **** that noise.

I answered with what to look for AND what it's worth. Make sure it was swapped and rebuilt properly. Make sure ot doesn't smoke or knock or whatever.

I assume car was stolen and they took the seats and the b16a2 then dumped it. Which leads me to believe they were retards and didn't grab any of the other valuable parts and also probly hacked up the wiring on it. Dude probly just threw in any swap he could find so he could just sell his headache along. Don't buy it. Just look for a NON Raped car.

The motor has more miles than the car? I'd pass.

But if you're dead set on that one I'd check to make EVERYTHING in the cabin works, from the A/C to heat. Al interior illumination, blinkers. If you can get under the dash and look for shoddy wiring. On the exterior get under the car and look for signs of oil leaks that he might have tried to clean up (underside of car coated with oil), missing bolts, ripped/tons boots, worn bushings. Above all check the engine harness for shoddy wiring as well. If you know what to look for check for previous bodywork/accidents. Test drive it. Listed for any unusual squeaks and rattles. Make sure the CEL actually works. See if you can get VTEC to activate. Check for smoke and oil in coolant.

a older motor is a federal offence and won't pass emissions so depending on where you live you might want to keep looking
