Just recently purchased a '92 civic h/b si with a '95 GSR engine. The car was not running when I bought it but just recently got it up and running now. I replaced the starter, distributor, spark plug wires, spark plugs, and replaced the civic fuel pump with a GSR fuel pump. Car is running on virgin OBD1 P72-AO1 ECU. Car started up great but soon realized it was sputtering. Went to go test the car out for the first time and it just wont rev pass 6K. Called the previous owner and he said he had the same issue too. Only tested out once because the car is uninsured for the time being and didn't want to get caught. I'd appreciate any help or suggestions.

 

Distributor problem maby?

 

i'll look into that even though i just replaced it with a new one. I've swapped out the rotor, cap, coil, with the one in my integra gsr and it didn't solve anything.

 

check your timing make sure its set to tdc and it if you still have that problem your tachometer is most likely wrong. you can test this by putting an aftermarket one on.
