Hi there hondas..im new to this site here so bare with me on my info i wanna know so here what im looking to buy...i got a stock gsr turbo and looking to buy a build a motor for my turbo kit that i have now..so here's what im looking to do...im looking to put my turbo kit on to this built lsv longblock that my guys has that was built from him...so lmk if this longblock be good for turbo or all motor...

what i wanna know is would i rather run this motor ALL motor or slap on my turbo kit on it...the reason i ask is this motor still in my buddy car running and it pull HARD already and if i should put my turbo kit on it or not...with that kind of compression on the set up...but my buddy says its built for turbo but im not sure...cuz from what i know and see is people run turbo on low compression build...so lmk what you guy think...thanks HT

That compression ratio is perfectly fine for boost.

 

what are your power goals and plans for the car?

 

I would say go turbo...you will likely get way more out of it... All motor on that combination of parts will get eaten by the influx of people coming out with K20 & K24 setups if the goal is to become competitive......especially since your friend said its built for turbo going in that direction is what it was intended for anyway.

 

Would my turbo be too big for this set up if I was to go turbo on it..and as for HP im looking to get 450-500 whp or more if this motor will do.. and as for the motor I have all paperwork what all done to the motor..which he put about 9g into this motor in parts n labor..

 

you have a pretty stout engine build 500+ reliably should be no problem with the right supporting mods.

The only worry I have is if I put my turbo kit on to dis motor would I have any worry bout this motor won't handle my turbo????

Plus dis is my 2nd motor for boosting...so I'm new to turbo motor ..thats why I got this post up asking question..and see if my buddy telling me the truth on dis motor that its. Built for turbo...cuz I'm paying quite bit of cash for dis motor..

 

And plus would I need to worry about the compression on this motor...for boosting..like I said I see different built turbo motor n most of them is with lower compression piston...

idk about compression...what fuel u using? i went 9:5:1 to be on safe side

 

Would my turbo be to big for the set up or perfect. For it...and as for lb of boost what would this motor handle the its max...or would that depend on my tuner???

As for now I'm just planning on using my 680 cc on 93pump gas...but may look into maybe running on e85

 

your going to max those 680cc injectors very fast.

yea well do!!!! and for rpm limit..what rpm ill be able to rev it up top and reline at...he told me this motor will do 10k 10.5k no problem..head is full built so reving it up to that if fine??

and as for right now the motor in a eg with bolt one running as breaking in the motor...and he running the motor to 7200 rpm.. now

 

i mean...what are you trying to do with this? why are you wanting to rev so high?
10k rpm's is up there...

edit : also, i see you say stock oil pump? will cavitate way before then

everyone can say something...you won't be revving that high. there is also no point for you from what i can tell.

im not familiar on when that oil pump starts to cavitate. somone else would have to chime in for you. i would say 8500-8800 at most.8800 would be pushing it i think.

 

What do you mean from oil pump starts to cavitate ???? And someone would have to chime in for you????

 

the pump will start to pump air and cause the oil to foam. becoming inaffective.

i don't know when your pump begins to do this so someone else will need to tell you that.

 

just about the same engine that i have, but im at about 10:1 and 880 cc injectors. just a few things from me to you:

1- 680cc injectors are no where near enough. you can run upwards of 450whp on 93 pump gas (im doing 450 on 93) but not on 680s. if you want to run e85 i wouldnt use less than 1000's.

2- 8500 to 9000 rpms will be sufficient.

3 - get rid of those supertech valves and get some oem valves. supertech springs/retainers are amazing, their valves have a long history of breaking. search on it you will have nightmares.

4 - when the head is off replacing the valves put it back together with an oem or golden eagle headgasket, making sure to torque the headstuds to 25- 50- 80 ftlbs. you wont have any issues that way as long as the mating surfaces are true.
