Intake, Header, and Exhaust. Now what?
I wanted to simply open up the engine to breath better so I added intake, header, and exhaust. Car is running a lot better! I'm impressed by how much changed. I don't plan on doing anything else but I do feel the need to get some sort of tune on the car. Asking locals around here doesn't do me any good. I don't really care about fast it is. I only want the engine to run healthy. What's my best way to get there? I know nothing about ecu stuff. So if anyone could send me in the right direction I'd be grateful. Chipped ecu? Hondata? A friend told me I could chip it myself. But, I'll get some opinions before I start.
Thanks guys.

If you want to do a lot of reading, you can chip it yourself, and tune it yourself on a dyno. However, if you're not comfortable with manually modifying ignition and fuel tables on your own car at your own risk, I would look around for a local speed shop to see what they prefer to tune with, and buy that option. Most shops do Hondata, some do Neptune, Crome, etc.
Hondata is more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Nothing. And the only thing you really changed was the sound. As in, it's much louder. A tune, which will probably run you near a grand for the EMS and tune itself, is a total waste on a stock engine.
No kidding. Way to state the obvious. But you're recommending a course of action that is absolutely NOT cost effective. $1,000 for maybe 10hp?

No need to waste money on a tune with those items, the computer will adjust on its own. As for larger piping that is a waste, plus he just go an exhaust.
He didn't even mention what car/engine he has.

in case u dont understand what he clearly stated here u go " I don't really care about fast it is. I only want the engine to run healthy".. he wants it to breathe better..
I understand EXACTLY what he is wanting I don't think YOU do. The D-series is a pretty efficient engine from the factory. Not much you can do to make it more efficient or free up THAT much more horsepower. After a while you reach a level of diminishing returns where it becomes counterproductive to spend ridiculous amounts of money to gain MAYBE 15 horsepower with a tune.
If you want it to run healthy then do not mod it and follow all recommended maintenance from the factory. Period.

Forget the tune, not worth it for what your looking for! Bigger intake manifold and that's bout it otherwise your getting into big stuff and if u don't care bout speed then what's the point right?
I have a b16a2 in a 2000 Si. Like I said, I dont care about speed. I have no use for a bigger intake manifold. And when you change anything on a car, I know it will need a tune. Especially intake and header. It changes restriction and not to mention I dont have a catalytic converter anymore. My car is definitely running rich. I wouldnt mind learning to chip myself, I just dont know where to learn.
You don't need a tune for IHE. Don't know where you heard that. If you're not running a cat then that means you aren't running the second O2 sensor which means you are probably running limp mode. So right now your engine is operating in an unhealthy state because of your mods. Keep operating it like this and you'll be looking for another engine.
Okay well I won't tune it then. I am running my o2 sensor. But it did turn my CEL on. It seems to run perfect. I just smell it running a little rich. I'm not one to halfass anything so I was expecting to need a tune.
you want it to be healthy but removed the cat so its a gross polluter ? also if your engine light is always on how do you know if anymore codes are set ?

if you REALLY wanted a healthy engine return it all to stock.
no need to hard park literally just to hard park.
you wasted a lot of money to just move your power band up, car louder, and pollute a lot more. all for maybe 8whp.
get a high flow or normal(this one) cat. more then likely you ARE running in limp mode. try hitting vtec.
im with marc on that one. a CEL is an immediate pull over and make sure i won't die driving it home to fix it.

It's definitely not in limp mode.......I didn't waste any money. And I'm not ignoring the check engine light. I check it about once a week. And the code is saying I don't have a catelytic converter.
