Should i replace my engine mounts?
I am putting in my zc and i know it bolts right in but a guy told me i am better of replacing the mounts anyway cause they will probly be bad. What should i do. Should i save myself a headack and replace them?
say he doesn't and he puts it in and he knew the engine mounts were probably bad, this is purely hypothetical
, how hard would it be for "him" to change them out after the engine is in because now "his" car shakes like a mad man?

If you don't mind spending the money. When I pulled my A6 out, the mounts didn't look too bad. Just as long as the rubber isn't all cracked, you should be okay.
Mostly the front motor mount takes all of the punishment, it should be the only one needed to replace if any.

so um how the hell do solid pieces of metal go bad? Rust.. but thats obvious..
The bushings are all you should need to replace.

I don't think that you can just buy the rubber bushings themselves (at least OEM ones, you can buy polyurethane inserts at summit) so you have to replace the whole motor mount.
A ghetto way would be to fill in the rubber with Shoe Goe...
