Default quick radiator hose help

hi,

doing ES motor mounts on my prelude right now, to get at front bolt i need to make space by removing the radiator fan, in order to get the fan out of the way i need to remove the upper radiator hose. im not too expierenced a mechanic yet so i need to know:

can i remove upper radiator hose without draining coolant, or will i make a huge, paint killing mess if i unplug the thing?

Thanks for quick help!!!! sry to post this in 1+ forum, need quick help

you can drain the coolant from the bottom of the radiator (in the middle)just enough so the portion in the top hose drains out. then move the 2 upper radiator hose clams so you can pull the hose off. you might make a little mess but nothing too major if you drained out enough coolant. Then refill your coolant after you replace the hose, make sure you clamp it down properly as it was before you removed the clamps. fill the coolant with 50/50 coolant/water mix till it comes up to the small hole below the radiator cap. run the car without the radiator cap until the fans come back on for the first time, put the radiator cap back on and you're done
