can't get into gear while car is running
Engine is a B18c with B16a trans, 94 del sol vtec. The clutch is pretty new ACT unit with about 200 miles on it.
This all started while I was on the race track at Thunderhill (road course) after about 15 minutes on track in my last session of the weekend (rest of weekend car was fine). Shifting became difficult, clutch pedal felt normal. I decide to pit and when I come to a stop and the car is running I cannot get it into gear. Get towed to my spot. Stick shifts just fine when the car is not running.
Fast forward a few months:
I get around to pulling the tranny. I notice I'm missing like 4 bolts on top that mount the trans case to the block. I assumed this is my problem, the case separating and not releasing the clutch but decide to tear it down anyways to be sure. Pull the pressure plate and clutch disk and everything appears to be in order so I reassemble.
Get everything back together and again the same behavior. I decide to bleed the clutch and do so. Now I feel like there is more play at the top of the pedal travel than before but otherwise I have clutch pressure. Again, cannot shift into gear with the engine running. When the engine is off it moves ok.
I measured the throw of the slave cylinder and it is traveling about 0.5" when the pedal is depressed. Is this enough? Is it supposed to go further? What else could I be missing?
Thanks.

The slave typically moves the .5" you describe. That doesn't mean the clutch isn't bad or the pedal doesn't need some fine, fine adjustment though.
And I know it may be a long shot, but it's possible the clutch needed adjusted from the get go and it just had a slight drag that destroyed the synchronizers in that 200 mile term - I'm assuming you weren't the easiest on it on the road course. You probably would have had some harsh shifting though which would have highlighted this problem. Normally you don't have to really touch the pedal at all, but I've noticed some pressure plates just throw it completely out of whack. Been awhile since I've touched an ACT though.

Thank you for the response.
Since the slave typically moves 0.5" and that is normal; I'm guessing something must be wrong with my pressure plate? I suppose I could mess with the pedal adjustment to see if that helps.
I don't think my synchros are shot. I'm not very hard on shifting while driving since I'm in 3rd or 4th gears most of the time.

I have a ep3 and it wont go all the way into first or third gear and feels spongy when I try pushing it in allmost like something rubberbis blocking it any ideas on what it could be?
