hydro handbrake installed correctly?
Hi All, i recently installed a hydro handbrake, in series with the regular brake system. So effectively i did it like this.
oem m/c to distribution block, distribution block to front brakes and also a line via a t block from the rear ports of distribution block to the handbrake m/c, then from there to the rear calipers.
I put new -3 lines in from the distribution block to the handbrake cylinder and then again from the cylinder to the rear brakes. However if you pull the handbrake (the systems been bled already) the rear wheels certainly do not lock easily, so i am wondering if i have done something incorrectly. There are no leaks, but the discs so have a little surface corrosion from where the car has been sat.
So, am i worrying myself about nothing? and once the surfaces have been scrubbed it will be ok? or have i missed something in the install. The handbrake does do "something" but i was just expecting a lot more....
Any advice, help appreciated

So why did we Frankenstein a hydro handbrake system on top of the existing one? Was there supposed to be some benefit to it? I have never heard of anyone doing this. Any links to working examples or it this totally custom?
to ne honest it was the most common way that i came across it on the net. I had planned to isolate the rear brakes later on in the year so maybe i will just do that...

my car was converted as it originally had drum rears, however the cable that were supplied did not work correctly with the car effectively leaving me with no handbrake. I decided to go for the hydro handbrake to try and give me the control back.
I could use some sort of line lock but thats only really useful for the burnout.
So to really answer your q, the cable brake was useless and i figured this would fix that, but at present it hasnt!

You said the brakes where drum, I assume it means they are now disk, and if so, off what, a G3 Integra maybe?
If so then tech. they are already "hydro" hand brakes in the rear all you would need is the cable to "actuate" the hand brake slaves in the calipers.
This will allow you to lock up the rears to do burnouts, assuming the car is FWD, and still maintain normal braking for anything else. 94

a stock handbrake is nothing to do with the hydro system in the car. The cable actuates a kind of hook that then pulls the caliper in on itself. No fluid in the system is moved, so is entirely seperate.
In a perfect world i probably should have persisted with the cable solution but this in theory should give just as good if not better control. As i say i think i just need to bleed the system better, less easy when its only me with no suction bleed kit

and no the cables came off a delsol, so should have fitted my delsol just fine, but for whatever reason, they didnt, a couple of brackets were missing from the cables too which didnt help, but i should have been able to sort that.

He installed a staging brake so he can preload his car at the line to take the shock off the drivetrain... I've seen it done this way so the pedal still applies to all 4 wheels and I've seen it as two different systems I personally prefer the pedal still doing all 4 bc I don't trust my hand not to lock up the rear tires.... Lot of people in here not familiar with a staging brake post this in the drag racing section
