Now wouldn't that be nice. Factory Honda turbo FTW!

Cool but adding a turbo=210hp? I read the article. Seems like Honda is doing the "day late and a dollar short" thing on purpose? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for Honda and factory turbo setups. But this has been done well in other makes, with better results.
SRT-4
MS3
WRX
Those have been around for 10 plus years.

One can only hope it hits our shores?
This is what people have been asking for but they should be offering it in more trims than a 5 door hatch.
Then there is the price, starting at 23,000 british pounds. Conversion to US $36,236.5
If it indeed costs that much Id elminate it off my short list of cars to seriously look at for a daily driver.
The rendering in the above posts is very nice looking.

more hp doesn't mean that it was "done better".. i would prefer to have this than an SRT4. i like a hatchback way more then a sedan or coupe. much more practical for a track weekend. :D i'd love one, but it'd never make it.
I guess I was not comparing it to a SRT-4, but only in an oem turbo car way. I just think that Honda, a company known for their technology, makes plans for a turbo car (which I'm all for) that makes the same output as its current offering, albeit with some more torque that comes with the turbo.
Anyone ever watch Top Gear and see how they feel about CTR's? Besides if it's priced at or around a newer STi or Evo? WTF? I don't understand.

if this thing is 35k+ and only 210 HP (and i understand this doesnt mean anything cuz most people will tweak the car to their hp liking after purchasing) just dont see it competing with an AWD evo or sti
The turbo is probably only to get it through the Eurozone emissions regulations which are pretty much pushing highly tuned NA engines out of the market. The boost in low end power would be a bonus because people over here have been spoilt with all manner of overweight, over tyred turbocharged hatchbacks that rely on low down shove to give them the illusion of speed, not to mention everyone's forgetting how to change down a gear to overtake.
It's very nice, but a turbo, macpherson struts, a twist beam rear axle and 3000lbs+ is not a Type R. They should kill off that brand name now IMO.

Oh you mean how they LOVE the CTR? Especially the EP3R? And it wouldn't be priced anywhere NEAR what STi/EVO cost? The EVO starts at 31,000 GBP. If the CTR is 24,000 GBP, that's a pretty hefty difference.
At that price its competing with the Vauxhall Corsa VXR, not the the STi/EVO.
You guys need to realize that in general the car's price tends to not be a straight conversion between GBP/USD. For example, the Fiat Panda twinspark is 11k GBP in the UK, it wouldn't be 19k here.

Doesn't the RDX has a turbo 4cly... or had?
Either way, 210hp turbo 4 is pretty sad. The Cobalt SS makes much more and is a better performing car than the Civic Si, according to test results.
I kind have given up on Honda. Their shining moment was the 90s and early 2000s. Other makes noticed and are now the leaders in the performance sport compact market.

The next Honda Civic Type R will not only be the fastest version yet – it’s tipped to be Honda’s first-ever turbo road car.
Even if we ignore the just phased out RDX (light duty truck, so technically not a car), the Legend was available as a V6 turbo as far back as 1989.

Yeah I don't think this rendering will turn into anything in the states. The article is poorly written and I wouldn't hang any weight on it. (tho i r no good at the english e-thur; i r engeNeeR)
About the Arh, I absolutely love my mazdaspeed3 and this thing is WAY more expensive than it should be (I'm guessing about 30-32kUSD if it were marketed here). Looks decent and very up to date but sadly we'll never see it or respect anyone why buys one. Id rather spend my dough on a 97 R
