Default Eibach Pro Kit question

Hey everyone, I've been reading up online and looking at different variations as far as suspensions go and being that I won't use coilovers to they're full potential and I just primarily daily drive, and do weekend runs here and there I figured springs my be right my alley.

I looked at the Eibach Pro Kit, as well as the Swift R's and I'm leaning towards the Eibach Pro Kit. My question though is have any of you used these springs on the OEM shocks before? If so how was the ride/rebound?

I'm fully aware that OEM shocks are designed for OEM springs however If I could skate by this way for a while I'd like to do so being I like the OEM struts and from what I gather the the Eibach springs have the same feel as OEM just with different spring rates obviously. Would the 1 inch drop make this a horrible ride and totally unworthy?

If I were to upgrade the struts it would probably be Koni yellow/ Eibach springs... Or If I were to go with coilovers I'd either go with Ksport's, or Function Form Type II's. I know that ideally there are much better coilover setups out there but as I said I don't drive my car THAT hard and will never use them to the full potential. Any thoughts on this?

Using a car to it's "full potential" isnt the only reason for a nice coilover. The trick is buying one that meets your needs. If you're considering coilovers at all, buy nice ones....just don't buy race stuff. For example, the KW V3 is excellent as far as ride quality, damper quality, longevity, corrosion resistance, balance, handling, and tunability....all things that matter for even just a spirited daily driver. Stay away from the crappy coilovers that you mentioned. The quality is bad enough to make the car go from daily driver to shitty driver. Wasting money to ruin your car is not exactly ideal.

Springs are a good place to start. The eibach sportlines are a really nice spring. Another consideration might be CR springs/shocks if you don't need the car lowered. Or Koni yellows and ground controls...that way, you can choose your own rates as you go along and actually get into tuning the car. Try hitting the track as well since you seem to enjoy driving. Make it legit. You'll never look back or regret picking up that hobby.

B Serious is (as always) correct.

But that said, i've been on Neuspeed springs and stock shocks for over 2 years now (DD), and the ride is still fantastic. One day, coils will come my way, but for now, i'm a happy bunny.

Well I had KSports back when I owned my Civic coupe and they were pretty damn nice I thought. They also handled the abuse of the roadways here in San Francisco pretty well.

I could actually wait a bit longer and shell out for the kw's I assume. I just thought that since I had a positive experience with KSports I might give them a whirl again. Also in regards to your Neuspeed Springs how many miles have you got on them with your stock struts?

My concern was putting springs on OEM struts that have 80k on them. They are in tip top shape for they're age/mileage but it's something that I do question.

Oh and the Koni/ground control setup does sound tasty as well. How stiff is it though? From what I remember ground control makes pretty stiff stuff!

You can choose your rates with ground control springs and you can choose your damping on the koni yellow.

Nice. I actually messaged No Limit Motorsports on S2ki on package C w/ top hats. Waiting to hear back.

Worse comes to worse there is a local dealer selling the Function/Form Type II's for $700

I'm actually debating giving them a whirl and If I don't like em I'll throw the stock stuff back on but we'll see. Getting the Koni's and GC's will be a sure fire thing for me I know.

Why do you want top hats? I would just use stock mounts. More comfort, less noise. It's not like top hats do anything for handling.

I rode around on sportlines and stock shocks for a year or so. The ride was really good and it wasnt too low. If your looking for something simple, thats a start.

Yeah initially I was. I really have been thinking about waiting though and just getting the Koni/GC's.

I've been through this with my Civic in the past and I redid everything about 10x over because I cheaped out early on and regretted it.

I regretfully made an offer on ebay for Ksports prior to making his thread and I'm 13 mins away from being off the hook so pray for me.

I used the Pro-Kit on OEM shocks with my AP2 and they worked surprisingly well. I daily drove and tracked this set up until I went with KW V3 then eventually Eibach Multi Pro R2s. FWIW, the Eibach springs are designed and tested around factory shocks. Can't go wrong with them if you want to do just springs.

another vote for Prokits. Had them on the car with OEM shocks for something like 4 years. Close to 60K miles on them with the shocks at 108K miles. Car is tracked/autocrossed extensively as well.

Thanks for the vouches guys.. 108k is impressive, was this because they blew that you changed them or just wanted to upgrade? ^^^

Also, I got quoted $944 for the Ground Control/Koni Setup. Not a bad price. Saving like $100 or so going through the vendor on s2ki. I'm still gonna sleep on it.. I have a snow trip this weekend so lets see how much money I come back with
