I thought I'd put this question out there. I'm having a tough time deciding whether or not to get a halo fixed back seat.
Currently I'm looking at the Racetech 4009:
Without Halo

With Halo

I can't decide which one to get. I know the Halo is technically safer, I'm just worried about things like side to side visibility and ability to get out of the car in an emergency. The car is not really street driven, it's still tagged but I really only ever drive it from the shop to my house that's about it.
I wanted to see what people had to say, anyone have a halo seat and have any opinions?

Containment seat.
Yes if: it's going in a track only car
No if: it's a street driven car
I don't have one only because I can't fit one with the cage design and where I sit (in the main hoop).

This delema I fought over for a while before i bought my seat.
Im short 5' 8 and i didnt like the idea of using sliders.
Then there was the issue of egress.
I also was sitting too high.....too close to the cage on top.
So I cut the stock mount points out, welded in 1/8 plate to beef up the floor and built a box system to bolt in the sliders to.
Yea its one step more to get out ,and you always have the risk of maybe the sliders become compromised in a crash, but thats what the other windowless door is for in case **** happens.
I was looking for comfort in my seating position, and the halo to protect me in my opinion better than a side net.
Thats only my pov ,and hell i could of put a net in as an extra measure of safety.
I ultimately went with a seat with a halo.

Halo all the way. I built my own for my Richardson aluminum seat and will never go back to a regular seat. It doesn't hurt egress into a CRX so it should be fine in any other car. It will be great in my hatchback. Its great to be able to lean your helmet against the halo in the turns. Then you can concentrate on driving and not holding your head up right.
I had a Sparco Evo2 in my track car and changed to an Ultrashield RR seat w/halo. I noticed no difference in ingress/egress. I have since changed to a Sabelt Taurus XL and still have no issues with ingress or egress.
I thought the halo was to keep your head from bouncing around in an accident. If you have a HANS device and use it, you shouldn't need the halo as much. But a halo and HANS is most likely the best way to keep your neck in one piece.

Because race ca!
I actually I have a kirkey bolt in with x-brace which is why I'm trying to replace my reclinable seats with a fixed seat and 6 point harness setup.

6 point no cage? No thanks.
For the seat, like your decision with racetech. I have the cheapest rt1000 and it's comfy as hell. You may consider looking at it if you're only doing track days.
I don't think you need the halo if you're not really racing w2w especially if it's street driven at all. I may consider the 4009 but after finishing my car and cage setup, it's hard as hell to get out of the car without the hr in the way.

I agree though, from all the seats I've sat in the Racetech is the nicest. I'm taller and quite enjoy that the seat base is longer to support my legs in a more comfortable position.
Halo
I have a Recaro pro racer SPA and although I can't definitively say it helped me avoid injury, I'm sure glad I had it when I hit the tire wall backwards at an odd angle at almost 100mph.
