car has dead cyl when negative is connected

As soon as I disconnect the negative it goes away what could this be?

Car only runs fine with negative disconnected

well he said it runs not that it starts.. still doesn't make sense though

Sounds like the engine stops misfiring after the ECU is reset.

What CEL codes are thrown?
