Default aem cai opinions please

hey all

i'm lookin' to purchase an intake system for my lude and wanted your opinions on whether i should get the aem cai or if i should get one costing 80 bucks (RDX intake system)
is aem's cai REALLY worth the 100 extra bucks?

Probably not. I guess it depends on how much 100 bucks means to you..

yes, its carb legal, dyno proven, lots of r&d has been done to develop the product.

might want to look into an Injen intake too jus for S&G ya know.

I think that the AEM CAI one of the best intakes on the market now. It looks and sounds nice,and it also has a good noticable amount of HP/Trq increase.

this is all true. But, an intake is an intake, the gains will not be significantly lower comparing a diy intake to a aem intake. Im poor so i just bought a 35$ intake at the local shop and i'm gonna get some 15 dollar or less piping to make it cold air. AEM is dyno proven and they do go through r&d thats why they're soo expensive.

I'll put it this way...as long as it's a true cold air intake, it doesn't matter which brand you purchase. I bought mine off of Ebay for 50 bucks shipped, Nakayama Racing brand, and my buddies and I actually compared it to AEM. Mine is about a 1/4" wider in diameter than the AEM, I had to custom fit it onto my intake manifold. Everyone whose seen it thinks its an AEM with the sticker taken off...so yeah it doesn't matter, I say buy that one you found.
