Default Rev Limit Change!!

Is there a way to raise the Rev Limiter on my stock 08 Si? All I have is a Skunk2 2 1/2" exhaust and AEM short ram intake.

I ment where you idle and hit the gas and it wont let you go over a certain rpm until you let off the clutch

HONDATA flashpro and a tune will solve the Rev hang and greatly improve driving experience possibly even a few more hp to the wheel

Enter VitViper. I figure hell, i've already spent a bunch of $$ on a FP, why not spend a little more and make it that much better. I bought a tune, and started datalogging. Vit helped me out every step of the way! I'm a tuning noob, a computer noob, and defenitely a FP noob. I was a little apprehensive about plugging something into my car that could essentially make it explode into little pieces of radioactive powder. He walked me through the datalogging process, and then the recalibrating process. After a few email exchanges of datalogs and new calibrations, my car is transformed. Mind you, my car is bone stock with the exception of a trailer hitch (+3whp) and tinted windows (+7whp). BIG DIFFERENCE!! My car runs as smooth as butter! Low rpm in-traffic driving is super slick, and the throttle response is very sharp. The VTEC transition hits nice at WOT, but super smooth at part throttle. It's what Honda should have done from the factory. Plus, knowing that my engine is running "safely" is itself worth the tune $$.

In closing, all SI's need a FP, and an E-tune. Yea, even if you're bone stock.

:cheerleader: Thanks Vit!! :cheerleader:

no. unless you have flash pro, access port, or something to that nature. that neutral rev limit was set there by honda probably to prevent idiots from blowing their motors from pointless high revving while the engine is not under any kind of load.

yeah i don't think you should be able to own flashpro...you'll probably save yourself a lot of money. I can see the kid now just revving the **** out of his motor and over revving....ka boom.

I've always wondered why the engine seems like it's working so much harder while in P or N. You bring it to 2k and it sounds like a workhorse, but at 60mph, it sounds like it's barely above idle. Does a load significantly reduce stress, wear, and tear on the motor? It sure sounds like it.

I'm going have to guess wind noise, the road noise created as the tires rolls across the pavement, other cars' noise, other outside noise, etc.

Ohh i see. Well i talked to a few people and i figured out that I shouldn't need to change my rev limit. Its in the perfect spot now unless I beef up the engine alot more. Thanks guys
