Default Help, need k20 engine/tranny bolt pattern drawing.

I hoping someone already has one, just to save me from calling in a favor from a friend. I am looking for a schematic, drawing or rendering of a K series engine or tranny bolt pattern for a motor/adapter plate.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I dont think anyone is going to give away the cad drawing for that if they have it, but what motor trans combo are you looking to run? Mazworx has a K202GM plate available, so if you need a straight motorplate im sure they could make you one.

Anti is exactly right.

First off, what are you looking for? I actually have a SBC to K20/24 adapter plate for sale.

Secondly, how much are you willing to pay for the CAD drawing? Because I paid $500 to have the plate made, and I supplied the CAD drawings...

I don't understand why someone wouldn't. I mean if someone had designed something entirely new from scratch and had a patent on it, I would totally understand...

No one makes the adapter plate I would need. I am adapting a K20 to a Porsche g96 Tranny. BTW, I have the G86/G96 bolt pattern drawing if anyone needs it.

$500 for just the plate, was it crazy detailed or something. One of my friends just did a swap and bought an Adapter Plate CAD off eBay to adapt a 1UZ to a supra tranny for $20 and we had a Local machine shop mill it out for $150.

I dont want to sound like a *** or anything, but the reason I personally wouldnt give it away if I had drawn it out (cause I do cad drawings), is I would acquire it 2 ways, one is I draw it out, which takes time which is labor that is $$$ and you have to own calipers which are expensive, two would be that I paid for it to be done, which would cost $$$, so thats my idea, also the reason someone might want to charge $400-500 for a plate is because they didnt make a batch run, they just did a single run which cost more.

If you can have stuff done so cheap give your machinist a call and ask them hour much labor to measure and make you a dxf, im sure youll be in the 1-3 hour ball park for labor.

Agreed, having done MANY drawings from "reverse engineering" for products other than the automotive industry. I would never give away a drawing like that, I've spent several days in front of the CAD tube and with a set of calipers trying to reverse engineer a flange or mating surface. There's some tricks to doing it faster/better, but again not something you give away.

If it's something really complex, we have tools that can reconstruct an object into a CAD model using lasers, we have another tool that I use often that just takes a bunch of target points and plots them in 3-d space, then constructs a model out of the targets. This requires a FARO arm and software, I think we paid 100k for the FARO and another 20k for software.....

You can do it yourself, it may take a few pieces of material to get it just right, but thats the cheapest way to do it. Calipers and a whole lot of time.

I don't think he is asking for a cad drawing, just a bolt pattern drawing done in "Paint" or something.

Why???, the sheet alone was $325.00 = http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-al...sheets/=g5jklu

Lookup 6061-T651, .625(5/8") 24" x 24"

Good for you, then you have a hookup already... Call Kennedy Engineering, they may sell you a cad drawing of the bolt pattern.
