Default Is this a good deal on stock brakes ?

I may be able to get a set of stock front brakes from a Del Sol Si for $100.

Is it worth it... I assume that car has the same brakes as an EX ? (Bigger than DX brakes)

Is that correct ?

That ain't bad, cause what you really need is the spindle. And then from there you can upgrade no problem.

Stock brakes on the del Sol Si are the teeny tiny 9.5" rotors and the little calipers like the Civic DX. Don't get that stuff you're looking at!!

Upgrade to the 10.3" rotors and larger calipers from either a del Sol VTEC, Integra, Civic EX or 99-00 Civic Si. You'll need the entire brake assembly and the knuckles. Then you have to swap out the upper A arm (at least I did on my swap from a del Sol Si to a 99 Civic Si).

HTH!

The spindle is the part that the rotor is mounted to. At the top it mounts to the upper control arm with a ball joint, and to the lower control arm with a ball joint and to the steering rod I believe. It looks vaguely like an upside-down "Y" or "T". This will let you bolt gsr calipers, or itr calipers with some minor modification, or kits like AEM's big brake kit.

I thought the Si had upgraded brakes from the S trim, just like EX brakes. Am I wrong? Look at the new caliepr and if it looks anything remotely like your stock ones, don't get them.

Yeah, the Si has rear disc brakes, but the same shitty *** calipers and rotors in front as the S model.

Click on link in my sig, go to GALLERY and see the difference between the two......there are a few pics with both calipers showing.....

Thanks for the input... if the Del Sol happens to be the VTEC model with the EX style brakes... would the buy be worth it ?

I would need to give the seller my stock assembly tho...

yes, very worth it. If they're the smaller brakes, you're just getting teh same ones you already have, and just wasting labor removing/installing them. If they are VTEC model brakes, do it.

Yup. If you can, get the brakes installed first as you may need to exchange some parts over (eg, the upper A arms) like I had to, and that's no good if you've given the guy your old hardware!
