Default EF2 Civic Suspension Question

Hey guys, my EF2 currently has cut springs as far as I know. In order to pass the NCT to show road-worthiness, the car needs new springs, but i'm considering getting new springs and shocks.

Unfortunately, I'm new to the game and have little to no knowledge of this area, so I don't know what to do. At the moment I think the springs are cut, but they have play in them, which is the reason it didn't pass an NCT.

In order to fix this, would new springs on the old shocks generally tend to solve the issue of play, or would I need new shocks and springs?

Also, what springs from other models (EK, EG, DC2 etc.) would fit an EF2?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Define what you mean by "play".

If they come unseated at full droop, and you're otherwise happy with everything else, you need helper springs and couplers. New springs might be cheaper.

Most lowering springs will come unseated at full droop (no pre-load) and will have the same issue.

I don't know what an EF2 is, but I can say that asking what "fits" isn't necessarily going to get you answers as to what actually functions correctly and will get you past the inspection issue.

he's from across the pond. ef2 would be equivalent to the 88-91 civic.

op, maybe you should ask someone that is from your country, because we're not going to be able to help you on the "will it be legal, and will i pass inspection".

we can help you with suspension tips, but since you're over there, we can't help to much.

Thanls guys, I ended up getting sorted with some new shocks and springs. And yes, being from across the pond, an EF2 is a Japanese Import 88-91 Civic.
