HID retrofit
Ok I have a 96 civic coupe and as some of yall may know, The light output sometimes sucks. I paid 50 bucks for the top of the line silver star ultras from advance, and they didn't really help much. I even got new head light housings (mainly because the mounts were broke) and that still didn't help much. I used to think the "smurf style" hids would work, and look cool but after spending some time searching, I like the retrofit idea better, and doing it right the first time is pretty smart too. My main questions are what setup would be right for my civic, and wiring. I don't want to do much cutting on the housings just because I don't want to screw something up. The few write ups I have found are not very detailed, just, here's what I got, bake the housings, paint, and back on the car. I have read that there is one projector that would fit nicely into my housings but nothing else was mentioned. Well that about covers it, sorry for the lengthy post, any help will be appreciated.
you can use the mini h1/d2s projectors.. those require no cutting.. just slide it in and bolt in it.. you do have to check rotation though.. i would take the mini h1 over the d2s because the output is a bit better on the h1s..
Is the wiring just basic solder together and go, And are there kits sold or do you just have to piece it together? I have been on theretrofitsource.com and it doesn't say h1 or anything
Ok well let me takre back the last reply. I played around on retrofits website and found the d2s and all the wiring questions. The only other thing now is I would like to see some pics of other peoples retrofits, and what type of bulb used. Thats the last choice I need to make. Major thanks for the input.
most oem projectors use d2s bulbs.. the mini h1 uses h1 bulbs.. the mini h1/d2s is aftermarket and to me its a good starter projector.. if you want to start with the best, thats when you start cutting..
