Would it hurt to overfill my mtf a little?
I dont understand how this could be possible. To fill the transmission to the proper level you fill it until it runs back out the fill hole. So unless you had your car laying on its side and filled up your transmission, i dont think it is possible to "over fill" it. And people will disagree, but save your money and buy pennzoil, if you compare the part numbers and read the back of honda mtf you will see they are the same part numbers and it is more like 8 bucks a quart instead of 25 or so.
The honda mtf wasn't $25 for one quart it was like $32 for 4 quarts. I was planning on just trying to jack up the one side of the car to get extra in. I appreciate your input but if I did get extra in there would it hurt. I can't think of how it could
Overfilling it will not help. The easy way to fill the transmission is to take out the speed sensor and pour in two quarts.
If it's tough to shift, the transmission needs work. Is it easy to shift while the car is off and only tough while its running? If so, you might just need to adjust the clutch cable. Have you inspected the clutch??

I have checked the cable and it is correct and fairly new. I don't really have the time for my car to be down for to long because of how much I work. The clutch seems to grab fine I'm hoping its not going to be to much of a problem like I said its only sometimes that it does it and other times its like butter. I am going to try and pick up another transmission the next time the junkyard has 50% off (hopefully in two weeks) and rebuild it with new synchros
As far as i know overfilling will cause the oil to get hotter, and as it gets hotter it begins to expand, and as there isnt any room for the oil it will build up pressure which can result in blowing seals.. Also it could be a fire hazard if it starts leaking into the enginebay. Thats atleast what i've learnt
Lol at mtf being 25 most iv seen it is 11
Fill it up till it pours out and done
Sounds like not enough mtf isnt the problem

i don't know, I just thought I saw a post on here once about not filling it up right...probably was just a matter of opinions...
anyways
Even if the vehicle is not on ramps the fill up is like 1.9 quarts. So if you put 2 quarts of oil in, drive it off the ramps unbolt the drain plug and add if necessary wouldn't that work too?

Haha, i just realized why. I use GM Syncrhomesh (i have been using it so long i forgot that people would actually use anything else). So when i went to the GM dealer and asked how much, it was $25 a quart, and Pennzoil's synchromesh, which is the same part number that you can find if you read on the back of GM's product, is the same product, just much cheaper.
Yes, Honda mtf definitely should not be that much money. Sorry about that
