Default my ghetto homemade valve spring compressor

got into the hack it together spirit the other day and i threw together this b series valve spring compressor out of some stuff i had lying around the garage. it bolts in where the camcaps go, and then when you tighten the bolt through the welded nut it pushes down on the retainer compressing the valvespring.

i know a lot of you guys are tig welding some phenomenal stuff on here, but this was just thrown together with my lincoln 125 mig to save me 75-100 bucks for a nicely made one. for the two times a year im going to use this i was hard pressed to spend that cash

Yea ive got a few extra ls heads lying around I think ill see how far off this is from working on them. 2 biggest issues I forsee right now are the bolt pattern which I can easily redrill and the angle of the valve centerline which would probably mean I need to make a new one.

i just use a large mouth c-clamp that my grandpa had since sometime in the 40's along with a standard deep well socket with a window cut out of it...

that way i don't have to screw into an aluminum head every time to set up the tool. could potentially ruin the threads over time

I don't like the c clamp idea because of its potential to rotate while tightening and score the edge of hg mating surface. I was concerned with stripping out the camcap holes, which is why I made this bolt in with 4 bolts across 2 camcaps to help distribute the force
