Skunk2 Pro cams/valvetrain
I will be using some Pro series cams in my new build and was inquiring about the matching Pro series valvetrain, but they are super expensive
. I was wondering what people were using with their Pro series cams, as I have searched and most people said supertech or skunk2. The problem is, I have had major problems with supertech failing me in the past and I am not going there again. Soooo what else besides these two are people using with success?

Valvetrain is something you should never ever skimp out on. You go cheap, your motor goes boom. Simple as that. Also, if you ever have any warranty issues with the cams, guess what the first question S2 is gonna ask you? Save your pennies for another month and buy the correct.
Why so many I just built this BIG DOLLAR engine but want to cheap out of the valve train it really should be the first thing purchased to match the cams when building an engine.
Skunk2 Pro series or Supertech if you have had issues with Supertech in the past 99% of the time its installer error or the wrong product for the application not the product itself.

wow... this guy is lucky enough to have 3 of the great minds on HT all reply to his thread. Oh and these guys are all 100% spot on. Cheap out on the shift ****, not the valve train.

don't cheap out! :p I have had my skunk2 tuner series valvetrain with tuner cams for a very long time! been in like 4 different motors! lol Probably have over 30k miles. I'm probably really underestimating the mileage i have on them just to make me feel better!
I am not saying that skunks valvetrain is suspect at all...I am just saying that I cannot dish out $500 bucks for valvetrain
.
Its not that simple boss! Would you use buddyclub spec 5 cams with buddy club valetrain...NO! Would you use blox HSL cams with blox valetrain...NO! Sometimes its better to mix match than to go straight up, even for warranty purposes. Both of those companies make great cams but their valvetrain are suspect. Very few that I have seen use those cams, have used their valvetrain also.

.Skunk2, Ferrea, or supertech are all great valvetrains. I'm sure if you search you can find these are good prices. Supertech's valvetrain is very good, its the valves that have the problems. Save up money..alot of people need to learn how to do that.

This is the first thread I have read in a loooong time where the RIGHT info is being pounded into someones head...again and again and again. I thought these days were over. Well besides the spoon feeding common sense again.
If you can't "dish" $500 for a safely matching VT, why you even have those cams? You have to pay to play simple as that. If a person don't have the funds getting a proper VT that is needed for there setups, then that person shouldn't even be in this type of hobby or shouldn't be building engines and deff shouldn't be racing of any kind. My advice have patience, save money, get the correct matching VT, save your motor and be happy.
