1990 CRX HF...ls swap?
I just bought my crx 3 weks ago picked it up running great for $900 :D Im new to hondas and more of a body/pait kinda guy but definitely wanting to get into the mechanic side. I have the chance of purchasing a complete ls swap for $1000 engine, tranny, wire harness ect...should I go for it? If so whats the hp I can expect to get out of it once completed?
Do what you want it's your time, money, and life. This is your average run of the mill swap and if you check the FAQ's there are tons of Write-Ups and even DETAILED lists of everything you need for parts and to do the swap.
How much horsepower will it have? The B18 will have the exact same horsepower as it did from the factory. Unless you are asking how much horsepower LS's have?

I bought one a year ago and soon sold it to my brother. They are fun cars and the swap improves day to day drivability and ofcourse performance.. The front end is gonna be a little heavier but could easily be improved depending upon your needs. My brother has Tein S tech springs and the car sits nice but really needs a stiffer spring up front. Stay away from ebay for most aftermarket stuff and you could have a fun little car to drive. Just don't expect it to be fast.
If it were me, just for the simplicity of it, I'd go 1.6 VTEC with your transmission. For what youre gonna spend dropping an engine that originally didn't belong you could have forged rods and pistons in a single cam with the engine setup of your choice (HI/LOW compression). Keep it within about 10:1 and you can still run pump gas and make as much power as that Bseries.
Don't toss the HF setup you've got though. those setups can go into another EF series and still make that awesome mpg and be a great cheap dd.. incase you do turn that rex into a track rat..
sorry for the ramble.

Sorry about sounding like a complete noob haha but thanks I'l definitely check out my options with alot more detail. The reason I didn't wanna keep the stock tranny was because I heard it was crap haha but doing what you said LSx Envy sounds like something worth checking out thanks.
Really?? Thats cheap does that include tranny, axles, ecu, wire harness ect? Over here the engine alone is about $700 and the tranny about $300 so I thought it was a good deal
See this is where the misinformation comes in... Just because a price is high/low in one area doesn't mean it's the same in another. In my area a full LS swap is around $1k including everything the OP has listed. Don't even ask what B16s or GSRs are going for... That is IF you can even find them to buy. So OP just search around locally and online, if it seems like a good deal to you; if seems like it then it probably is (for your area).

Yea B16 and GSR swaps are very pricy over here and this B18 only has 90k miles on it so it its a good deal but like I said I'm new to this and have much to learn. Definitely can't wait to get started though, I heard it can be a very addicting hobby. Haha
Alot of honda guys like the short gear ratios of the sportier transmissions.. Truth is if you ever go boost you'll want those longer gears. Plus if youre gonna drive this thing everyday you'll appreciate driving highway speeds and not turning 4k RPM the whole time doing it.
Oh ok yea I get you and yea this is gonna be my daily driver but my dream is to one day beat my d*** of a cousins vr6 but I know thats a dream haha I'm just getting tired of him and his friends talking crap to me because I own a honda and theyre all about vw's
I got a my ls for 600 with lsd b16 tranny. pretty cheap.. but 1k is good if it comes with everything. N make sure u cut n weld ur linkage or get 1 online for 150 u have to have the linkage shortened if its going into a ef/crx.
Uhh... You do realize a stock VR6 only runs high 14's low 15's stock right? They are pretty darn slow... A stock GSR is faster. With an LS swap you should be right with the VR6, add a 50 shot of nitrous and see them in the the mirror
PS - I apologize, I don't like to bench race, but I absolutely dislike VWs.

Yea his isnt stock I'm not really sure what he's done to it. I hate vw's too man haha and thanks for all the advice guys this site isn't like others where noobs such as myself get ignored or talked down on.
