My 86 Civic Si passenger floorboard flooded in a recent rainstorm and harmed my ECU according to my mechanic. The car starts and runs but once it's warmed up it misfires terribly and looses power. Evidently one of the LED diagnostic lights is also burned out.

Where can I get a new ECU computer in the Salem Oregon area, and is there a replacement that bolts in from a newer model that might be easier to find. Or, is there an ECU from another model that would drop in with out any trouble?

I'm not certain, but I think that's for the california 1.5L HF 5 speed.

hondapartsnow.com is calling for 37820-PE7-682 for the 5speed, 48 states ecu.

Does it matter? Is there a significant difference in performance I wonder?

 

you CANNOT use one for an HF. the HF is carbed and that ecu only controls very little. you need one for an si. any for 85-87 Si will work. some consider the 86-87 integra to be an upgrade, but the car will run richer.

 

Thank you. I know there are a number of ECU for these and I'm wary of getting the wrong one. I'm beginning to think the rebuild/remanufacture route. I didn't hear back from my mechanic Friday so I don't know if he found a used one or not.

Before the flood, the car would run okay until it warmed up and then I wasn't able to put the screws to it because it would run on about 2 cylinders when I tried to speed up. I just figured it was bad gas.
